Blog—August 13, 2025—It’s YOUR Agri Business

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show—helped Pfiefers---and Dakota Fest get set for their run that begins next week in Mitchell.

Pfeifers has stood for –well almost forever—in essence serving 80 years standing for Kubota and Bobcat.

It was Niki Jones who was our tour guide—for two lengthy segments in our It’s YOUR Agri Business shows.

It is the 30th Anniversary for Dakotafest---and Niki took us day by day—share the really important stuff—and why they get the kind of crowds the do.

It does come two weeks after the Sioux Falls Farm Show---and a week before the South Dakota State Fair in Huron. Both among the heaviest attended events in this state’s traditional history.

Dakotafest Education Buildings packed with a solid lineup of policy and education sessions throughout all 3 days of the show. The whole week will have sessions on topics such as farm policy, succession planning, property taxes and estate equalization.

   Among the sessions

  • Tuesday at noon –Property Taxes and what every property owner should know presented by SD Farm Bureau
  • Wednesday at noon—SD Soybeans will give an overview of the Mitchell Soybean Processing Facility
  • On Wednesday as well—SD Congressional Reps will be on site for a 2:30 session on all things AG Policy
  • Thursday don’t miss the Women in Ag Event—Keynote by Stacy Hadrick and following that they’ll honor the top 5 finalists and name the Dakotafest Woman Farmer/Rancher of the Year.
  • Plus Skid Steer Rodeo, rain gauges to be given away to the first few hundred people thru the gates each day.
  • FBFS is giving away $500 in groceries and Rice Companies is giving away at YETI Cooler
  • You can get commemorative Dakota fest shirts, hats, and socks this year in the Dakota fest Store.
  • We’ll do our It’s YOUR Business-Agri Business Show Wednesday live from 9-11 at Dakotafest. Something we always enjoy doing.

From Plains Commerce Bank—Brent Baloun –who will be at  Dakota fest next week had the morning Plains Planners –something they are good at and we try to keep them engaged Monday and Wednesday Ag Shows and one or two times a month with those that do a lot of serious planning.

Sarah Heinrich—had the Growing Harvest Network----she is from our sister station at KFGO in Fargo.

From Swenson Commodities—Matt Swenson had the grain numbers—the meat and energy numbers and the mid-morning look at the numbers from Wall Street.

We generally talk during these troubling times with Blackburn Basement Repair and Gingerich Construction. After the rash of storms, flooding and damage---Kristi Merfeld and Chris Bartman updating us on the numbers of those they have helped. Both have had hundreds—even thousands of those with damages. We try to keep those affected posted in our shows----and we hope the time will come that it will be less wet—and more concerned with dry and getting ready for the harvest.

Two other stops we made in the show---Mr. Tree John Ball updated us on the reports he’s getting on our trees—diseases and livelihood down the wind down of summer. Laura Edwards—South Dakota State Climatologist and Justin Glisin---Iowa State Climatologist—gave us state by state updates on where we are with the moisture—some crops but temperatures as well. The two are outstanding and understanding where we are and where are going.

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show provides experts and help with it be Climatologists----or Mr. Tree John Ball---plus a variety of reports that are useful to the average farm family.

Listen live to the show at 1320, 105.1, 107.9—use the KELO App—Streaming on Line or just ask Alexa.

Norm Anderson posts the podcast of the show—on the KELO-AM website ----my job is to schedule the guests, do the interviews, plan ahead, and at the same time keep the listeners in mind. I do write this blog as a history to what is in the show—and just who was talking.
