Blog---April 30, 2025---9-10—Working on Wellness Wednesday

We closed the month of April---with Dr. Tim Ridgeway---who gave us some real insights as to what USD Med School is doing to keep our students in South Dakota—the best educated that they can be------we did all that as he was driving down the road—headed to meetings to make it even better.

We –in our Wellness Shows have visited with the State Health Director Melissa Magstadt----both Sanford and Avera-----the Sioux Falls Health Director---and all with the hopes that we can keep our best and brightest students engaged studying health care—and then staying in South Dakota.

We have followed the students along as they made the annual trip to Pierre for a legislative session---lawmakers---and the governor made them feel comfortable—and we do all we can to encourage them to study hard and keep our population with the best health needs possible.

This morning Dr. Ridgeway---talked the importance of good admission criteria which it the mission---academic record of students who enter USD vs other schools—a little lower but the graduation rate and success is so much higher than other med schools. As Dr. Ridgway said—“we are punching above our weight class”

As Dr. Ridgway put—by following through with our admission criteria and highly effective curriculum---we are keeping the best students---and that in turns means the best HEALTH CARE Possible in South Dakota. The segment was good enough –we want more of our listeners to hear the Ridgway Report card—so we played a portion of it in the closing quarter hour of the 10 Agri Business Show.

Chrissy Meyer—with the American Heart Association talked about May being the American Stroke Month---we talks strokes---and heart attacks---the importance of families making sure for those that come along in the next generation and then the next generation---that they know blood tendencies----and gives them a chance to look at all that could follow from blood lines in the next generation and the one after that.

As Chrissy explained –one of the most important factors in surviving and recovering from a stroke is getting to the right hospital---and getting the right treatment. Making sure that the next generation—and yes the one after know what the tendencies are from mom-to child-to another grandchild –so there are no surprises. Families need to know histories.

An estimated 800,000 people living in American who have a stroke each year---need to get to the right hospital for the right treatment and the right care.

Make sure you understand where Mission: Lifeline Stroke comes into play—building a system of care that allows for scientifically proven measures to be applied to every patient.

Dr. Joshua Jorde---joined us----having been with his team ---at a session with Dr. Bob Rakowski, the main speaker at the conference—who brought up a “stress reset” to help your body get back in sync with how to best manager stress and the associated hormones. A 10 day detox to help with metabolic, inflammatory, and hormone imbalances which is especially good when either coming  off a toxic situation or even to help better prepared for making a positive change.

As Dr. Jorde shared---the best part about all the nutrition protocols is that they’re relatively simple. All are between 7 to 10 days.

Jorde Chiropractic Clinic is at 2821 S Center Ave—just north of the Hyvee on Minnesota Ave. Open MWF –9-5:30 and T-Th—9-12:30.

Our last stop was with Joe Evenson---Kingdom Capital Fund President. They have an event that is coming up. We talked about the fund—some of the has already been done—and what is the future of Kingdom Capital Fund. The event is May 22nd----and Mayor Paul Ten Haken—years ago was a part of how this all came together. It is the 2nd annual event…

Our Working on Wellness Wednesday Show is does cover a lot of important health care partners. A number of the organizations have partnered with our show—giving us a chance to ask the questions and allow the leaders to talk directly to our listening audience.

Norm Anderson---posts the show as a PODCAST---my job is to schedule the guests—write the Q & A ideas—all subject to change depending on the guest---and let our audience learn all they can in this one hour medical show.
