Blog-April 22, 2024-10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
Our It’s YOUR Agri Business—start to the week---provided a lot of special issues---and subjects—thanks to a bevy of guests who know what they are doing.

Our good friend Lura Roti---helped us explain quite the topic with Ryan Eichler---Director of Producer Programs and a Lake Preston, South Dakota Cattle Producer thru the SustainAg Network----

He explained that there are sustainable practices that give additional benefits---beyond compaction, reduces erosion, increases water infiltration, bui9lds organic matter and overall, improves soil health. The program also covers the costs associated with the late season, multispecies cover crop he plans to plant on the same acres for his cattle and sheep to graze late fall. He shared Luke Hiebert’s crop and livestock traditions on his farm northeast of Huron. And that South Dakota crop and livestock producer Jared Knock came up with the idea for AgSpire after he observed a chronic disconnect between conservation-minted ag producers caring for land and livestock and funds allowed for regenerative ag practices by corporations and government entities.

Mr. Eichler said The SustainAg Network’s team of advisors are essential to the process—what sets us apart are OUR technical advisors. This team takes the time to meet with producers to understand their overall operation goals and they provide the support needed for a practice change to succeed.

Lyons County Farm Correspondent and YES FRIEND—Dwight Mogler—helped us take the FFA Story to the Iowa State-wide event in Ames last year. He nephew Mathes Nobluck was one of 4 named a STAR. As we talked—he had a real common sense approach about what needs to be done and how to do it.

Mathes---did a fabulous job-----and I’m proud to have had him in our studio---being an Iowan by birth---this kept me plugged in wanting more.

10:20---Haley Kizer---New State FFA Reporter from Howard joined us as well as State Treasurer Elect Bailey Weeger from Viborg-Hurley. Both represented not only their communities but FFA and themselves very well. The BLUE JACKETS have good officers—and know they are welcome on our shows all the time.

Looking forward to the work they will do along with the help of Geri Eide.

We always like to have support from those from our little country towns—and I met a lot of those in Brookings last Thursday.

Sarah Heinrich---Growing Harvest Network from our sister station in Fargo—gave us the morning insights north of the South Dakota border---Matt Swenson---Swenson Commodities—helped us with the morning commodities----and yes the BIG BOARD on WALL STREET.

Brent Baloun---Plains Commerce Bank was johnny on the spot.  The Planning they do for beans and corn----businesses-----families---you and a little graying alike. Plains shares their planning Monday and Wednesday each week.

We talk to the Ag Leaders –Danita Murra SD Corn and Jerry Schmitz—South Dakota Soybeans. It’s that time of the year there are seeds going in the ground—and while they wait for the growing-they are hoping the interest in a Farm Bill gets moving---which isn’t the easiest thing the world to get done.

Jaime Wood—SBA of South Dakota—introduces us to her boss –a regional one from Colorado. Discussion on small business training-April 30th in Rapid City.

Rock Nelson and Jaime talk about their projects—how they are working together—and why working together makes such a difference in South Dakota and neighboring states.

We close the show with Laura Edwards---State Climatologist ---shares the planting—expectations for the week-----and beyond.

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show---is heard live 10-11 weekdays---at 1320, 105.1, 107.9—use the KELO App—Streaming on line or just ask Alexa.

Norm Anderson will post the SHOW as a PODCAST usually within 24 hours. Use these notes as a guide to what is in the show and where to find it.
