Blog---April 18, 2025—9-10---It’s YOUR Business

Good Friday!!---and we didn’t forget our roots or religion on this once a year day.

Our 9:00 Show had our regulars---minus—Dave Austad---Austad Golf---it is the week after The Masters---and Easter Weekend---so his family is taking very valuable and important time.

But Jodi Schwan---Sioux Falls Business—we were talking about Tik Tok---State Prison and City Bank---and Downtown Parking and pay to play.

Jessie Schmidt—BBB of South Dakota---She talked about the Shred Event coming next weekend---8-12—Saturday April 26th. Four locations—Roosvelt High School, Washington High School, Lincoln High School, and Sioux Falls Christian Campus.

Suggested donation is $5 per box or bag---

Bring your boxes or bags of sensitive documents and they promise to shred them for  you.

For the safety of yourself and the volunteers, this will be a touchless event. Please stay in your vehicle and have the items you would like shredded in the backseat of your vehicle or in your trunk.

Up next---Teri Schmidt---Congressman Dusty Johnson will be joining a statewide event---on tourism. Tuesday---9am at the Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel in Sioux Falls. It is a special meeting for the visitor industry to discuss travel and tourism related issues. Another event will be coming up in May—and we’ll talk about it on May 2nd.

Kip Rounds—South Dakota Game Fish and Parks talked about it being Walleye Spawning season-----it wraps up with 80 million Walleye Eggs for their hatcheries in South Dakota. 60 million have already been gathered. And for all enjoying the great outdoors—we’ll be hearing many more reports in the warming spring season ahead.

Brandon Hanson---shared with us the Easter Weekend events for downtown Sioux Falls…

There’s a lot to be excited about right now. We’re already seen over 3 million visits to Downtown Sioux Falls this year—and we’re just getting into the busy season. Foot traffic is up across the board by about 2% and we’re especially starting to see UPTOWN come into its own and traffic 50% higher that this time last year. With the upcoming Levitt at the Falls season, the Steel District development opening up and new businesses launching in that area, Uptown is going to be one of the most active places in the city this summer. In fact there are 8 new businesses that have launched in Uptown this past year. That’s the kind of momentum we love to see—growing that builds more opportunity.

Saturday :30-3:00—is the Sioux Falls Easter Egg hunt. The Hunt is about more than candy; its about bringing our residential community and our business community together. Families get to explore downtown in a fun, walkable way  while discovering shops and spaces they may not have visited before.

12-2—Hands-On Bunny Cake----get festive in the kitchen with chef Lizzie Steward as she walks you through decorating a classic bunny cake.

5-10—Multiple Downtown Crawl Venues ---and annual jazz crawl too.

We heard from Jimmy Ohlander—with playoff plans --#2 seed of 8. And they finally get a home game in the playoffs.

No Dave Austad today---but we did hear from Diana Patterson—Sanford career opportunities..
