South Dakota Farmer’s UNION PRESIDENT Doug Sombke—joins me in studio to talk about key issues in Agriculture on April 13, 2021.
It comes at a time---that President Sombke and his 20000 member Farmers Union is getting plenty of notoriety—and news coverage too---about their push to get the COVID 19 vaccinations---use good principals in staying safe----and some interesting reactions to $r billion increase for USDA –directed toward reducing greenhouse emissions and in essence making farms more resilient to climate change.
It does give incentives to producers to be environmentally responsible.
We’ll talk about that ----in this hour long show.
We start with Dr. Josh Clayton---South Dakota State Epidemiologist about where we are---why it is now whacking our younger people harder---with many of them going to hospitals.
We’ll check in with Mitch Richter—SD Farmers Union Lobbyist on what got done by SD Legislature for agriculture. But there are still things to be done for another session expected soon—with unsolved issues.
There has been good cooperation with farm organizations ---but work is still needed.
Billie Sutton joins us to talk about the SDFU Sponsored Rural Power Project.
Jamie White is the FSA—Acting State Director---we’ll talk about the announced additional $220 acre payment as part of the CFAP updates---and additional payments for cattle.
We’ll get the insights and insides on this very important program or two.
