DC and Lisa continue their East of Eden Netflix series coverage with episodes 4 and 5.  Kicking off with Bond updates (this started as a thing because our new Mr Darcy, Jack Lowden was in the running and now they feel genuinely invested in who is going to get this role).  They recap episode 4 as Cathy/Kate, after shooting Adam, changes her name, joins Faye’s brothel (run by Martha Plimpton), shows rare kindness and ultimately sees to it that she will take over. Episode 5 jumps eleven years ahead: the twins are grown, Abra is introduced, Samuel reveals to Adam that Kate runs a depraved Salinas brothel before dying, and Adam confronts Kate and returns seemingly freed from her influence. They praise Hoon Lee’s performance as Lee, discuss whether to tell the boys the truth, explain “timshel” as choice and free will, and note Charles’s death and inheritance letter.
