The night before, she had run errands with her estranged husband and made plans to meet her first husband for dinner. She never showed up. When Emmetta’s sister arrived at her home the next morning, she found her infant daughter alone inside the locked house. There was a strong chemical odor, unexplained stains on the carpet, and a bedspread missing from the home. Emmetta herself was gone. More than forty five years later, no remains have been found, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have ever been publicly identified.
