456. Veterans Day

View descriptionShare

On November 11th, 1918, the fighting on the Western Front ceased, marking Armistice Day and the end of the First World War. Following World War two, the name was changed in many countries to commemorate those who died in both wars and all subsequent conflicts. This solemn day to honor veterans and remember those who have died in military service is now recognized as Veterans Day in the United States.
