One in about 12 people in Malaysia is aged 65 and above. A significant proportion of them may need some sort of care eventually, as the likelihood of disorders and disabilities increases with age. But in a society where the bulk of care work is usually carried out by informal caregivers, where is Malaysia when it comes to developing a care ecosystem to support our ageing population? And why is it important to reveal the disproportionate burden carried by women in our society?
