Kauai officials urge public to stay home as Hurricane Lowell nears | Full press conference | Sept. 7, 2026

Hurricane conditions are anticipated for Kauaʻi County Monday and will continue into Tuesday as Hurricane Lowell passes west of Niʻihau. State and Kauaʻi County offices, public schools, Kaua‘i Community College and Hawaiʻi State Judiciary facilities on Kauaʻi will be closed Tuesday. Kauaʻi Mayor Derek Kawakami and emergency officials briefed the public Monday.
