David ‘Chook’ Henwood served for 37 years in South Auckland before retiring in 2007. He held the rank of Detective Sergeant and received a record three silver merit awards during his career, playing a significant role in some of New Zealand’s most infamous criminal cases. He has now written the book Unmasking Monsters: How the Hunt for New Zealand’s Worst Criminals Changed Policing Forever.
