25 News First Alert Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins joins The Greg and Dan Show for a look at today's severe weather threat. 

Collins indicates the storm is likely to hit the Peoria area between 12:00 - 2:00 with remnants beginning as early as 11:00 am and ending as late as 4:00 pm. Expect large-sized hail and damaging straight line winds. The threat of a tornado is low, but possible. 

More severe weather is possibly throughout the weekend, but could move South.

Severe Weather Expected to Hit by Midday

Greg and Dan talk to Stacy Peterson, Communications Director for the City of Peoria, and Jenni Davis, Manager of the Peoria Public Library, about the company “Scripps,” the organization behind spelling bees across the country. They highlight how regional sponsors help send one talented student to Washington D.C. in May to compete in the national Scripps Spelling Bee. Schools are encouraged to sign up through Scripps by January 31st at www.spellingbee.com to participate.

They wrap up by sharing their own childhood spelling bee memories and the importance of supporting academic competitions for young students!
