Greg and Dan talk with Amy McCoy, Executive Director of the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce, about the 54th Annual Pekin Marigold Festival, happening September 9-13. She previews what visitors can expect throughout the celebration, including live music, returning festival favorites, family-friendly activities, food, vendors, and plenty more happening around Pekin. She also highlights the Taste of Pekin on Wednesday, September 9, which helps kick off the festivities with local food and flavors before the main festival weekend. Amy explains why the Marigold Festival continues to be such a special Pekin tradition and how its wide variety of events means there's truly a little something for everyone. The festival itself dates back to 1973 and was created to honor Pekin native Everett McKinley Dirksen.
