A dozen high-school girls in Washington walked off a cross-country race this week. They would not compete against a male teammate who identifies as a girl. He started the season on the boys' team, finished well back in a junior varsity race, then moved to the girls' side and started winning. When the gun went off, the girls stayed on the line and walked away. The state superintendent says there will be no punishment. He says they can handle it however they want. They gave up the race. That is the part that is hard to argue with.
