在星期天举行的日本众议院选举投票中，自民党在高市的领军下，单独获得众议院316个席位，超过了法定议席数的三分之二。这不仅创下了自民党创党以来的最佳成绩，也是二战后单一政党在日本众议院选举中获得的最多数议席。

与自民党组成执政联盟的日本维新会获得36席；而反对党立宪民主党，以及由公明党组成的中道改革联盟仅获得49席，遭遇惨败。
