Minister of Sport Fikile Mbalula has assured the newly appointed Boxing South Africa’s (BSA’s) CEO Tsholofelo Lejaka that he is got his full support in enforcing the law and regulations in the sport. Lejaka was introduced Friday 20 May 2016, during a press conference in Pretoria alongside newly appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Thabang Moses and Director of Operations Sabelo Silinga. Lejaka replaces Moffat Qithi who was released from his contract last year in controversial circumstances. Mbalula has blamed weak leadership for the problems that BSA has had in the past and says that the appointment of Lejaka should deal with these elements that continue to derail the progress of boxing. Mbalula also announced that they’ve set aside R7million for the establishment of the South African National Amateur Boxing Organization’s (SANABO) new Open Boxing League that is aimed at fast-tracking the development of boxers.
