You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Living the dream once again here on a fabulous and loaded sports Saturday. This is Fox Football Saturday, and we're broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com studios.

Tire rack dot com.

We're gonna help get you there and on Matt's selection fast Reshipping free road as a protection over ten thousand recommending installers, tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be. Look who's in the house. Carrie Rhodes is here. It is Monsey's birthday weekend.

That's right, you know.

That's the ladies out there always seem to have birthday weekends or weeks, oh those months months. Sometimes I sort change it, you know us guys basically like okay, let's turn the page. We get we get two hours, Yeah, a couple hours of recognition. That's oh, let's rite at your birthday. So anyway, she's off this weekend.

But Carrie's great to have you here, especially as we get ready for two fairly significant football games tomorrow decide which two teams are going to face off in the Super Bowl.

We also have a lot of NFL news to get to today about all the coaching hires and everything else. But I do want to do a little offbeat non football story on this Fox Football Saturday because tomorrow is the five year anniversary of the crash that claimed the life of Kobe Bryant, his daughter GG and of course seven others. And it was ironically a Sunday, January twenty sixth, which it will be this year, also a Sunday. Rich Ornberger and I were on the air right across the hall in our old studio when that story broke really and it was that year show Everything's Moved Back.

That was actually the week before the super Bowl.

It's that you know that you're getting a little bit tired of trying to break down the super Bowl for two weeks.

Thing.

It was ironic because Eli Manning had announced his retirement.

Wow, and so.

We are already arguing about whether or not he should be in the Hall of Fame. Now here he is a finalist of the Hall of Fame five year later.

And then we get into a segment and I'm like, you know, I'm thinking we need to break a little bit from because we were doing a four hour show. We're in the second hour, so I thought there was a big story in the NBA last night. I tease it, and the story was is that Lebron James had just passed Kobe Briant for third place on the all time scoring list. So I'm talking about, you know, Kobe had said something on social media congratuations Lebron and everything else. I was just talking about this mutual respect between these two superstars. One of my producer runs into the studio with a TMZ story that there's been a helicopter crash. Literally I had passed this area on my ride in to work out of the Westlake Village area, and we had no verification. Obviously at that point, we're sort of waiting for, like, you know, because it just seemed weird once the last time I had talked about Kobe, like you know, maybe when he won the Oscar a couple of years before or something like that. Here were on full conversation about Kobe, and all of Aousden, You're handing me this, and then of course there was the garification about fifteen minutes later.

Where were you that day? When when did you find out about this tragedy?

That was actually at a friend's house and we were it was like a Sunday like service type of thing, and we had like some speakers and we were just sitting down in the spirit of everything of a Sunday and service and all that, and you started seeing these random messages. And my brother who was a big Laker fan, so my whole family are big Laker fans, which I don't understand why. It's probably because my dad, but you know, they were. You know, he sent me the TMZ thing and I was like, there's no way that's my that's my initial response. There's no way that did not happen. And then you started getting these you know, you started really start scouring the net and trying to check up on it, do your own research on it, and you.

See that it's true.

It was so crazy because they were starting to add people to the mix that weren't even on the plane.

Well that was because we were on the air and we heard Rick Fox's names. Rick actually had produced a TV show that I had done, so I was very close to Rick. Then there was a story that all four of Kobe's daughters were on the flight, and we had to be careful because we didn't really know all the details of the crash. I will say this five years later, I still have a hard time believing that Kobe's not here. I mean, I just I worked, you know, so closely. Knew Kobe really well. He had done a lot of great things for me.

With me.

We had a lot of fun together because I was like the guy that always got the jabs in there the show after, because I was, you know, on the Lakers station here in Los Angeles, working with Michael Thompson and Victor Brigg Jacobs. You know, both of them were, you know, kissing his butt twenty four hours a day. So I had to balance that a little bit. So the day after he scored the eighty one points, I opened the show and I go, well, another disappointing performance to assist only for ball hog.

Bryant last night. And they did not do that.

Oh I did. I did, and he loved it. That was the whole thing.

He's like Arvin, You're always You're always digging on me everyone else, you know, So he just we just had a great connection.

So, you know, it was such an unspeakable tragedy, but oh it was.

It was brutal. And here's the crazy thing. So I don't remember, I know, you remember this two thousand and six Lakers are playing the Phoenix Suns game four of an opening round series, and Kobe hits the game winning shot at Staples Center, giving the Lakers a three to one series lead. That was the night that Gigi was born, so his wife Vanessa goes into labor, so as the Lakers fly into Phoenix, he stayed behind. I flew into Phoenix because I was going to be there to cover the game because we're on.

The Lakers station.

We're at the team hotel, and Kobe gets in late that night, the night before the game, and uh, you know, we're congratulating him to what did your name Gianna, you know, blah blah blah blah, and then uh, I mean yeah, so, I mean it was it was tough. I mean, he did some great stuff with me and my son Garrett, who is a die hard, and we got pictures taking everything else that's a long story, but yeah, I mean, I to this day, it just it just doesn't seem real. The five years, five years just like that, and it's just it's just crazy.

So, you know, it was.

It was a day that we'll certainly never forget in the Los Angeles area, and I know for many of the fans around the country. It just and the fact that his daughter was with him was just made all that more difficult. We have a lot of football to get to here, Carrie. By the way, Adam Kaplan are Fox Sports Radio insider, is going to be joining us coming up in the next segment. Of course, he has a lot of connections as far as the Eagles are concerned, so he's.

Going to get into that.

But before we start breaking down these two games, and there's plenty to get to over the next couple of hours, I want to get your action to some of these coaching hires, and I want to start with Brian Schottenheimer hired by the Dallas Cowboys. Now, what's interesting to me about this and I've said this in terms of who he was going to higher h And by the way, I think the McCarthy situation is very clear because I remember we were talking about this about you know, he's sort of holding off and you know with the contract extension, and I'm like, that's if Mike McCarthy actually wants to stay. I don't think this is up to Jerry, who seemed enambor with the idea of keeping him. I don't think McCarthy wants to stay. But there's a pattern in every single hire that he has made as head coach of the Cowboys. And let's just let's just put it this way to tell you a little hint of what every single coach he has in common that he has hired. Apparently he has ignored the Rooney rule because every single coach he's hired.

Yeah, yeah, you know.

I knew when people were talking about Dion Standers, and I said this on multiple platforms.

No chance, no chance.

And by the way, it wasn't just his hiring practices. If you're Deon Sanders, where you had control of everything at the University of Colorado Jackson State before that, he knows Jerry Jones, Yes, he knows.

That he's not going to stay out of the way.

If anyone knew why not to take the Dallas Cowboys job, that would have been Deon Sanders.

Now, I don't know if he was ever offered the job, but I.

Guaranteed everybody, I promise you, Dion Sanders will not be the next.

Head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

And I never thought he should have anyway. I thought Dion was in the perfect position in Colorado. He's got complete control he has the love of that fan base. You know, he has a chance to actually do something that matters with kids that are starting to become young men. Like Actually, that's the perfect position for somebody like Dion, who you can see he really cares about those guys. And that's I mean, I think that's kind of clear to say, but when you look at him, it really does matter to him to the two legs of those young men that he has there. And so to go to the NFL and have a situation where you wouldn't have control and you'd be second fiddle. Whoever comes in is going to be second fiddle to Jerry Jones. So it just didn't make any sense.

Well it didn't.

And you know, and when you think about Jerry's hiring since you know, Jimmy Johnson left him, But how history could have changed if Jimmy Johnson had stayed.

It's it's conceivable.

And we've had Troy Aikman on the show that you know, we're talking about the Chiefs trying to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls. The Cowboys certainly were in that position after those first two. They were not only back to back Super Bowl champions and blowout wins.

They were the youngest team in the league.

They were the youngest team in the league, so I mean they had everything going for them.

They brought in Barry Switzer.

They didn't sneak in one more Super Bowl, but you know that's it. But I mean, he hired Bill Parcells, he hired Mike McCarthy. These are Super Bowl winning coaches. And then he's gone with the Jason Garretts. I mean, when you look at Brian Shott and high reds Jason Garrett it is right.

I mean, it's an in house guy. Offensive coordinator was just stay same deal. And I know Brian really well.

He was He was a quarterback offensive coordinator with me within New York with the Jets, so I know him well.

He's a really good coach.

He's actually a really good guy and a guy that can relate to guys. But as far as having control and devising a game plan for both for all sides of the ball, offense, defense, special teams, and really getting men to buy into something, it's going to be tough for me to say that he's the right guy for that job, especially coming off the season they're.

Coming off of right now his dad, Marty Love Marty. So Marty came to San Diego to coach the Chargers.

You're gonna like this one caret.

So Marty reaches out to about a dozen of the elite, you know, prominent media people in the San Diego area. My partner Bill Warrendell, and I were invited to a big steakhouse I believe it was Donovan Steakhouse down in San Diego.

Beautiful place.

So we're all sitting around ordering our state and everything else, and Marty's sitting at the head of the table. But instead of bringing out a stake for him, all they brought out was a glass of i'm gonna say, high grade whiskey or bourbon, and to just put it.

In the middle of his plate.

That was it.

And if we were all looking at him like interesting, Marty was so engaging.

We had a phenomenal time.

He just you know, he understood pr He was a CEO type coach.

And a guy who won two undred games in his career.

The problem is he only won five postseason games, right, which is why he's not in the Hall of Fame. And it'll be very interesting to see if his son.

Because this all comes down to this.

Mike McCarthy had three straight outstanding regular seasons that panned out with nothing in the postseason, and that's the end game. The Cowboys have not even been to the conference championship game since he won their last Super Bowl that was the nineteen ninety five season.

How many years was that contract? Did you know?

It was?

It? Five? I think with it a five year deal. The new one for Brian Shaam it's a four year deal. A four year deal, four year deal. So we'll see what happens there.

But we're gonna get to all of these coaching hires and some of the vacancies that are still out there. Steve Harman car dads Here Fox Football Saturday. We're coming live from the tire Raq dot com studios. Martin just came in with a big prediction about Aaron glenn Is, the new coach of the Jets.

We'll get to that a little bit later. On Carey's former team. The Jets have yet another head coach, and they've gone through a lot of them over the years.

But the Jets are far, far, far, far far away from where the four teams are right now. That would be the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Commanders, and the Philadelphia Eagles as they get ready for this weekend deciding which two teams will move on to the Super Bowl. And joining us right now is our Fox Sports Radio NFL insider Adam Kaplan. So Adam, as usual, we get to this point of the year where you know, you get you know these.

Teams pretty well.

I mean, there's nothing new they're going to add to their repertoire once you've gotten all the way to the conference championship game. So now it really just comes down to execution. Who's going to show up, who was going to avoid the mistakes? You know that that kind of thing. I want to talk about this Eagles Commander's matchup because obviously the Commanders are a hot commodity right now. They completely dismantled the Lions. But I've seen the story before. We've seen Cinderella teams get to a conference championship.

Game and then they're bubble burst.

And when I look at this matchup, obviously with division rivals, so they know each other very well, I'm sorry, I I you know, I'm rooting for the Commanders to make it a game, but my crystal ball tells me that this is not going to be closely. I think the Eagles are going to run over this young Commander's team. But break it down for US Adam in terms, because obviously you know this Eagles team, well, I'm sure they're confident. You don't want to be over confident they know the commanders well. Jaden Daniels obviously has been a huge story in the NFL. But let's break this down into which team has a distinct advantage over the other and in what area is that?

All right, So let me just first talk from a commander standpoint. So talking to them this week, it's interesting, you know, and a play to what you just said, Steve, it's a funny you said that they are aware. They are aware, keenly aware that no one thinks they could win outside the organization, and they kind of like that going to the Detroit game. Look, we know Detroit had massive injuries in their secondary and it absolutely showed up. And I'm giving Washington all the credit in the world on the road, by the way to win like that, I mean, Detroit, it's been such a good home to the last couple of years, one of the best in the National Football League. To dismantle Detroit's defense like they did, it's a great story. But now you've got to do it again on the road. And Steve, that's your point here, is that a centre Ola story like this, it typically does not go well. Now let's talk about kind of the reality of the situation. Eagles are one of the NFL's Bachsad's no question, arguably the best roster remaining out of the four. Now you could say they played down the competition. They nearly blew that lead late. I mean, really, if Jalen Carter does not get that pressure on Matthew Stafford, the Rams almost certainly would have completed that pass. But it also Stafford slipped on that play. And the weather was bad last week. I mean, it got really bad in the second half, which is what we were expecting. But overall, Steve, it's really interesting because starting with Philly here just from a stylistic standpoint, and I'm gonna give you another nugget in a minute. For the first time since Jeffrey Lorie, the owner has owned this football team for thirty years, they they're running the ball, win with defense, don't have the quarterback through the football a lot. That's just that's not the way they've wanted to do things football operations wise. But you signed Saquon Barkley having one of the best years in the NFL, hou Street running back. The quarterback has been wiley, it consistent on being nice as a passer, and Jalen Hurts, by the way, who I'm talking about. He's got a injured leftany he's gonna wear protection for it, so we have no idea what he's going to look like tomorrow. But overall, the defense has kind of been carrying them in the game. That's the way they play. And then Washington, I'm going with them right now. Washington's gonna with Cliff Kingsbar, He's gonna spread the Eagles out. This is what he does. I just think that the problem with Washington is they just don't have enough at other than Terry McLaurin, they just don't have enough talent. No. I know the last game when Daniels had five touchdown CJ. Gardner Johnson, the Eagles most athletic safety and playmaker, he was thrown out of the game. I think that clearly was a factor in the fourth quarter. I just don't see it this game. As a matter of fact, I don't see it as a high scoring game. The weather go though, the weather's gonna be nice, actually could be around forty, which has been pretty nice since today to start the day with six degrees when I was out at six am.

So that's it.

I mean, now, one nugget I want to add to Steve as I was going to allude to. So I was talking to Johnd Filippa, the former Eagles quarterbacks coach of the twenty seventeen team when they won the Super Bowl. What he said is, yes, Steve, you don't change your schemes at offensive defense. Everything's the same, but you bring out something different that the unscattered look the Philly special play in the Super Bowl, right fleay Fick, the flea flicker to Tory Smith in the Championship game which Minnesota did not see coming. That's what you bring out one or two plays that the defense is not seen.

That the crazy thing about what you both are saying right now, and I mean I agree to a certain certain to a certain degree, Washington has a chance to win this game. And the reason I say that, Steve and Adam is is because I don't know what Jalen Hursts. We're going to get number one he is. He is a little bit not healthy at the moment, but he hasn't been able to complete balls down the field.

To his playmakers.

So if Washington can make Philly one dimensional, they will have a chance.

But I'll say this.

Philadelphia gets great pressure on the quarterback and we've seen we've seen Jaydon Daniels be very calm and collected. Will this be the game that Philly is able to get him rattled and get him out of that conference zone. I think that's the real question for me.

And by the way, carry speaking of that, Sam Cosmy is out. Their best lineman by far, the right guard. He wears a cl last week, so he'll be out probably till mid season. And Trent Scott I'm told we'll definitely be starting tomorrow. He's a journeyman. He did a great job, by the way, against Detroit with a sudden change like coming off the bench like that. But you nailed it, uh Carrie.

When you when you.

Look at the Eagles defensive line, you know they don't blitz. They're a bottom five blitz team. When you play when you run the real Fanji defense with with the real Fangio, you don't blitz.

It's it's a four man pressure. Now.

The one little thing though, before we move on here, let's not forget Nikobe Dean is out. He tours Potel A ten and that that was a big deal. I was told that the Eagles linebackers were misaligned two or three times. They're inside backers, and the Rams took advantage of it. So that's something to watch tomorrow.

Again, the Detroit Lions five turnovers?

Do you have a five zero you're going to lose?

Yes, Golf did it earlier this see one?

Well he did, but you know, and and by the way, the Lions average eight point seven yards of carry.

And say Kwon Barkley is take the over, taking me over. I don't know about the over, but I certainly liked the Eagles in this game.

But let's carry this a little bit further as far as the Eagles, because again it's a team you cover. How is this Eagles team different than two years ago, the team that you know pushed the Chiefs to the limit and almost won a Super Bowl.

Well, okay, let's start with Jalen Hurts. Jalen Hurts was really to me.

Had he not been hurt, he may not have won the MVP, but he was pretty much the runner up for the MVP two years ago. Hurts, his best game as a professional happened to be in the Super Bowl. Was is unstoppable other than the fumble, and quite frankly, I mean, that could happen anybody. Let's let's be on it. The fans still hold it against him, but they don't understand he just anom all. Yeah it happens. But Steve, he was unbelievable in that game. Yep, here's what happened. That was that was a that offense two years ago was super downfield. They gave him half field reads. He processed extremely well. The league said last year, you're not doing that to us. We're going to take away the deep ball. We're gonna play a lot of too deep coverage and you're not getting it overheads. And that just happened the season and for the second straight year, and hurts his hole on the ball too long. He holds it longer than any other starting quarterback in the National Football League. That's not a good thing when you have all those great pass targets.

As Curry said, well, I mean enough of that game.

I know that Joga. I want to move to this to this. AFC love this one. And I think a lot of the discourse around I know the people that I'm around a lot, and I.

Think I saw something where Steve said this as well.

Anybody but the Chiefs, do you feel that type of energy surrounding this game.

Oh funny, go ahead.

I do radio every Thursday in Kent City, So they actually asked me that, do you feel like people are taking shots at our team like they're sick of Patrick and sick of the Chiefs. Look, we went through this with the Patriots. Yeah, yeah, okay, it's then beat him then, okay, beat him mate, now Buffalo. It's really interesting. You've got yet another situation where the Philadelphia TI Sean McDermott, who ironically Andy Reid fired as his defensive coordinator, taken over for the late great Jim Johnson in Philadelphia so many years ago, and Sean is got this team rolling and it is fascinating again with the analytical data and then running and versus throwing. It's the first time in Sean mcdermot's career they're actually a running team. I know they were doing this in trading camp and in the preseason. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing with Dalvin Cook's brother James Cook, but they're really more of a running team and they're now part of it's because they traded Stephan Diggs.

They're not very good at receiver, but still with Josh Allen's arm. You saw last week what he had to do with like didn't have.

To throw the football. I just can't see that happening in this game. And the weather, by the way, it shouldn't.

It should be.

Fine in the twenties, you could throw in that weather. I look forward to this game and the Chiefs also the pass game is they're winning with defense, and the run team's not great, but their defense on our ste Spagnola, who blitzes more than anyone, that defense is absolutely phenomenal.

They are phenomenal. And I've said this to everybody about this game.

I mean, you could make an argument that maybe the Bills have a little more talent right now than the Chiefs. But if you're betting against Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, why the guy is sixteen and three. I mean, unless he has that inexplicable second half against the Bengals where they collapse in that AFC Championship game.

His only other two postseason losses were to Tom Brady.

Right, that's it.

He's sixteen and three in the postseason, and then Travis Kelsey, who was sleepwalking through the entire year, shows up like he's in his prime once again.

That's the thing it always gets to me about Kelsey.

I mean, you remember we had this conversation Adam a couple of years ago when Tyreek Hill left for Miami, and we're like.

Saying, wow, I mean the Chiefs. I mean, you and I were on the same page as like it used to be pick your poison, right. We can't double up on Tyreek, we can't double von Kelsey. What are you going to do? Now one's gone? This is gonna make it easy. But Kelsey still is wide open. I've never seen anything right.

I know that.

I know if Kerry Rhodes was out there, there's no way you would have blanketed him. Of course, there's no way this guy would get open. But I mean, just in this last game against the Texans, like he's wide open.

And it's not like they're you know, not throwing the ball down field if you're worthy at all.

But you know, it's funny.

I had this conversation after that Tyree Hill Tree with former Egos president Joe Banner is very close to Andy, and he and I didn't see it the same way. I have to give him credit. He said it won't be a problem they'll scheme everybody open, nobody. It will not be a problem. Trust me. I was like, how could you say that with the way that they throw, the way they throw the ball down field. He goes, it's by scheme. Don't worry about it. He'll get guys open. This will not be a factor. I mean, I gotta say, if you look at wins and losses and championships, He's absolutely right.

This game should be close tomorrow. I think it's very very tight.

I just it's just a shame that we're not having the air aerial fireworks that we expect, but still going to be a very good game.

All right, So I take it.

Then you're looking at a rematch the Super Bowl from two years ago.

I do.

I have it actually Philadelphia twenty three to twenty and I've got a twenty seven twenty four Chiefs.

Okay, I think you're short changing the I see an ac.

Room here. Yeh.

You think Philly is gonna kiit? But I'd like to see Sean McDermott. You still have three blocks for me, him and brother Tim. I love to see them win, but they've not gotten done the playoffs. It's interesting how much better they are of the Chiefs when they play each other in the regular season, but not when we when we get the postseason.

For whatever reason, great stuff is always Adam. Next week we'll be breaking down the Super Bowl with right, so we're looking forward to that. Adam always appreciate it.

Thanks so much.

That's Adam Kaplan, our Fox Sports Radio NFL insider. Speaking of insiders, let's find out what is trending right now. The man that wears every single hat, all the hats in this building, Martin is here.

How about the only thing that's insider about me is I'm inside the building right now.

No no, no, no no.

You came running in here and you said you're breaking it all down with Aaron Glenn.

So that's different. That's a take.

You've already got him established as the front runner for NFL coach. Be here next year.

I didn't go.

If he flips the Jets, if the Jets make the playoffs next year, Aaron Glenn could well be the NFL coach of the year.

I'll have a dollar or two on it. Okay, you know I'm not there. Ready to plant my flag today. Plant the flag. We got to see you New Orleans Hires job's not done yet. Cycle's not over.

Does anybody want the Saints job?

It doesn't look like it. Anybody doesn't. And I know that hurts you. I know, Martin.

I know I wouldn't want it either, exactly, except for the fact that all the money is guaranteed.

I'd be fired in two years exactly.

So I'd like that Mike McCarthy should be the Saint Sex Eye coach.

That wouldn't be a bad hire for him, you know, I mean, Mike McCarthy is steady steady.

I like that.

That's the word I was looking for.

Steady steady's inn improven over half the NFL, which.

I think the when you higher Dennis Allen as your coach, that was just such an How did he get a second chance.

Because he was Sean Payton's guy. Is Sean Payton's defensive coordinator?

Yeah?

Okay, thanks, Yeah, it.

Was ugly defensive coordinator on the team that scores forty points.

Listen, that's going and Sean took everybody with him to Denver. That's why the teammate the playoffs.

There go carry. I'm sorry to tell you this, but the Dallas Mavericks, Hey, don't say it. I have to.

It's the job, I know. Go ahead, Martin.

Two thirty four left in the first half. The Boston Celtics with a fifty one to thirty nine lead over the Dallas Mavericks. Right now, Jalen, Jason Tatum and Christaps porzingis leading Boston with ten points a piece. Kyrie Irving has ten as well. This is kristapps first game back in Dallas since being traded. He's either been injured or missed the other ones earlier in the NBA. Oh, actually, another NBA game going on actively right now. Ended the first quarter between the Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets twenty four to seventeen to score. Jimmy Butler, Uh, he's yet to enter the game. I think that'll probably remain for the next three quarters.

I thought he was suspended.

Okay, there he is, So he's suspended.

I was like, is he there? Yeah, he is supposed to talk today.

He's supposed to talk to the media today. I'm not sure if or not.

Don't mess with pat Riley. Doesn't matter who you are, Nobody nobody messes with pat Riley.

Well, we'll see Jimmy, Mike. Jimmy ends up trying how's that working for him?

Exactly?

It's not over till it's over, but it's over.

Between the Minnesota tim Wolves and the Denver Nuggets, one thirty three to one O four. The final score Anthony Edwards thirty four points. He actually broke the franchise record for three pointers made, taking that with a former Timberwolf, Carlensony Towns and the Indiana Pacers beat the San Antonio Spurs one thirty six to ninety eight in the homecoming for Victor Winbina. This game played in France. Uh, couldn't have been an outcome. They were looking for Washington Command, Who's downgrade dron paying for tomorrow's NFC Championship game against the Eagles with injuries to his knee and a finger. Colorado Quarterbacks you Doris Anders then attendance for the East West Shrine Bowl. He's not practicing or participating in the game. He didn't meet with teams yesterday, including the Titans, the Browns and the Giants and Madison Keys.

On her first Grand Slam title winning the Australian Open today.

The American was the nineteenth seed going into the match though as a pretty.

Big race, so good for her. Great story back to you guys.

Yeah, she had gotten to she went to one Grand Slam final before US Open, and she'd been to the Semis a couple of times.

But you know, twenty nine years old, you figured, all right, it's just not going to happen.

Yeah, and for her to run the table beat Sablenka, of course, was the number one seed, two time defending champion. Outstanding for Madison Keys. I love stories like thot. I know you just don't give up.

You know, I'm going to have my day, and she certainly had her day down there in Australia. All right.

So, speaking of these NFC and AFC Championship games, let's here's something I've been saying, and I think I've mentioned this to you carry So people talk about give me a list of the franchise quarterbacks in the NFL, and I'll say, you mean currently right now, there's one.

His name is Patrick Mahomes.

Because putting anybody else in his company, whether it's Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow or whoever you want, they're not in the same category. They're just not If the idea of a franchise quarterback is winning championships. The only two other active quarterbacks that have won a Super Bowl are Russell Wilson and Matthew Stafford.

That's it.

And so you can't put Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow in the same conversation as Patrick Mahomes. Now that being said, Josh Allen has never had a better opportunity than he has right now. This Chiefs team this year, despite their record, is not played at the same level that we've seen in previous years.

The Bills beat this team.

The only team that actually beat him obviously, the Chiefs threw away a game at the end of the year against the Broncos. Play anybody in that game. So this is Josh Allen's opportunity. He is a veteran now. He had a tremendous season. We were talking to Adam Kaplan about the Bills running game. They're money more effectively than they have in the pass, and they beat this team earlier. They know they can beat this Chiefs team. It's just a matter that the Chiefs had what is it now, eight straight games without a turnover.

They don't beat themselves, that's it.

And then when you make that one mistake they seize on it and they just turn games around. So when you're looking at this matchup, do you see any I don't know, growth in the game of Josh Allen as the leader of this team that convinces you as you close your eye and visualize the end of this game, of Josh Allen coming off the field at Arrowhead a winner and getting the Bills back to their first Super Bowl in more than thirty years, I do.

I do watching Josh Allen this year, he's finally understanding that sometimes you win by doing less. And most quarterbacks, when you are the guy, you feel that you have to do everything in your power to win games. But when you become cool, calm, collected in those big moments, like we've seen with Patrick Mahomes right, like you never it doesn't seem like his temperature rises at all. He just goes out there in plays and he's going to make more plays than you do. And that's kind of that's like the ultimate that's like the ultimate praise you can give a quarterback, a guy that you can go in. We knew back in the day watching Joe Montana. How many times did you see him his temperature raise?

Never?

That's that's there's always the famous story when they won the Super Bowl in that last drive, the touchdown pass to Taylor. Yes, Randy Cross was on that team, saying that he was like pointing out John Candy in the crowd during that ninety two yard drive to win the Super Bowl, like he's so calm, And I get that now from Josh Allen right now watching him play last week. We've seen in the past where you could definitely see him hyperventilating on the field A thousand and he had more talent then, Yeah, And that's the maturity here, Like he doesn't have more talent than he's had before at skill positions.

I mean last year, I mean he's minus Gabe Davis and Stefan Diggs, who are two really good receivers, but they're gone.

The thing about Diggs was if he didn't get the ball, he was not having he was a tyrant.

Yes, yeah, but I'm just saying I'm saying all that to say he's gotten to a point where he trust Joe Brady, he trusts what he's calling, and he knows that this is a full team defense, offense, special teams, and we're gonna win by committee that way. And if we do not turn the ball over, I trust in our game plan. He trusts his team, he trusts his OC so much right now that he's only doing what he needs to do to win. And I love that for him, and I think, I actually think that this is going to be the year that he gets over to Hump and beats Patrick Mahomes.

Well, like I say, you know, it's so ironic because I have a lot of friends that have been legitimately lifelong Chiefs fans, not Johnny cum lately. I mean, I'm talking about guys that literally have been Chiefs fans their entire life. And much like the Patriots before Belichick and Brady, the Patriots had nothing really on their resume. Nothing, I mean, a couple of Super Bowl appearances and that's it.

No wins, nothing, And.

The Chiefs did have super Bowl four, but that's a thousand years ago, the Hanks Stram years. But basically prior to Andy Reid showing up and then of course the emergence of Mahomes, there's nothing there. There's just nothing there for the Chiefs, and you're like, you know, so you're sort of rooted for them in.

The beginning, in the beginning.

Yes, because it's new, it's fresh. Wow, look at this, they finally have the day.

But the idea that everyone's rooting against the Chiefs, unless you're one of these diehard Chiefs fans, it just comes with the territory. And by the way, having Taylor Swift at the games doesn't.

Help your cost not help.

No, it does not help your cause.

And there is no knock on Taylor's Swift or her relationship with Travis Kelsey. But if you already are rooting against the Chiefs having her up, there only just ads.

And your thief. There's another layer to that. They also get a lot of calls in their favor. So that's the other party.

I want to dress that on the other side. I will continue on to hear. This is Fox Football Saturday.

Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows Foxsports Radio dot Com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to listen live.

Steve Hartman and Carrie Rhodes Fox Football Saturday. We're coming live from the tay Iraq dot com studios. All right, you brought up something right before we went to break about the Chiefs getting all the calls. Now, we said the same thing about the New England Patriots back in the day.

A team that you knew very well played against them a lot.

Yeah.

Okay, I mean, look, carry you've been around this game a long time, You've seen games, you played the game at.

The highest level.

Are you serious when you say that there are certain teams in the NFL? And by the way, going back forty years ago when I was working for the Raiders, believe me, the Raiders insisted that the Steelers got every call.

There you go, But is that something that is real? I mean, is it a real argument?

I mean, we saw the one obvious play where Mahomes goes down. The two Texans defenders literally running to each other, they don't even touch Mahomes, flag goes down, and of course that was a drive that ended up in a touchdown.

That was the difference in that game. But is that real?

Do you honestly believe there are NFL teams that get favorable calls from the officials?

I wouldn't call it teams, I would call it players, right, And so think about this. Referees are human, right, human nature. If you're around somebody you admire or have favor to you may give that person the benefit of the doubt. Right now, It doesn't mean you're going to the game saying I'm going to cheat. That's not what I'm saying. In high octane moments, you see somebody that's really successful, you may have an admiration for. And the human nature of some of those moments is if it happened to that person, and somebody did something to that person, that may look a little egregious at certain times, but maybe not. It's a judgment call. I may favor with that person, right if you have that human nature to it. So the human element of it. Patrick Mahomes, if you watch them play, he gets calls that other quarterbacks don't get.

And does that mean they're cheating.

No, But that may mean that they're looking at this person as an elevated person in this game and in this scenario, and I'm gonna give him the beneit of their doubt.

And that's not cool either. But that's where I get when I see this.

When you watch him, you can just tell from later on you saw Patrick Mahomes get not even touched and get the penalty, and you can see Jared Golf get his helmet almost knocked off and get no penalty called at all, So why not? Obviously it's a different game, But that's the that's where I get the disdain when I watch the Chiefs because it seems like they get all ways get the call in the big moment, and that's that's a little fishy.

Well, and it's not just the you know the direct Carl, I mean, think about this all right, So personal foul on a play that wasn't a personal foul, but I saw Tom Brady. You know, Tom Brady would throw that deep ball right underthrow it and they would be dropping the flag before it even lands. Pass interference is going to be a fifty yard penalty. Or think about this, if you're trying to protect a certain quarterback.

Jeeos.

Offensive linemen are seemingly getting away whatever. They're never called for any holding cars and they stay holding everybody's holding. So why do certain guys get called for holding the other guys they seem to just ignore it. So well, we'll see how that plays out in this game against the Buffalo Bills.

I guess say I I think the Bills are a better team this year. I think that Josh Allen is what you said, he was.

I think he's ready to take that next step, but betting against the Chiefs.

I'm sorry, I am not going to do that. All right.

Coming up later, we're going to get into some of the interesting coaching hires around the National Football League, including Carrie's former team where Aaron Glenn will try to turn things around for the Jets. And what about that Pete Carroll hiring by the Raiders. We're gonna break it all down, keep it right here.

Much more coming up. This is Fox Football Saturday.

All right, rolling along here on a very busy sports Saturday. This is Fox Football Saturday, and we're broadcasting live from the ti iraq dot com studios, tier rag dot com.

We're gonna help get you there, and I'm Matt selection fast ree shipping, free road ass of protection, over ten thousand recommended installers ti iraq dot com, the way tire buying should be.

All right.

Coming up layer in the hour, we're gonna give you our predictions on these NFC and AFC Championship games. Do you have any intention of heading to New Orleans for this year's Super Bowl?

No, no, no, I don't like big crowd, Steve, I've those days are over. I like to be in the comfort of my own place so I can actually break down the game myself and hear myself talk.

I like to hear myself talk.

I've said this, with all due respect to other cities around the country, that the Super Bowl should be in uh one.

Of three sites New York, well outside LA for sure, Miami, New Orleans, LA.

Course.

I mean, that's it. I mean, and I've covered twenty six super Bowls. It's a lot of Super Bowls over the year.

It's been to New Orleans many times. I remember.

It was two thousand and two Super Bowl and it was right after nine to eleven. Security in New Orleans was insane, really, I mean it was crazy.

It would probably be around the same.

And yeah, it's going to be you know, they had obviously the attack or the you know, tragedy there in New Orleans not that long ago. But that was the first time I ever went to New Orleans covering either a Super Bowl or Final Four, some major sporting event where I never once stepped on Bourbon Street. That's because Maxim was having their first party, the first Maxim Super Bowl party.

Huh.

My buddy Rodney Pete was able to score me some tickets.

Nice.

That was quite a night.

It would have been better if it was Holly Robinson Pete that got you there. Well, I think actually I think she did get the ticket.

I mean, Rodney wanted to take credit for it, but you know she was you know, she she's the boss over there anyway. But we had a great time. I mean, New Orleans is if you've never been to New Orleans, you should. I mean, New Orleans is a very unique place.

Anyone's great. It's a great site for.

The Super What do you like the most about New Orleans food?

I mean I about it this way, and I mean maybe because it was I was in an altered state because of too much alcohol. But it just seems to me like you could pretty much walk into like any bar in New Orleans or bowl of gumbo and it is going to be good.

Oh for sure. And the dirt you're looking place the better.

Oh, just incredible.

So looking forward to the question is which teams are actually going to get there?

Now? One guy that knows about Super Bowls because he won one, he lost one, and that's Pete Carroll.

That's right.

You know, when you look back on the Seattle situation, fourteen years, made the playoffs ten times, won a Super Bowl, the only one in franchise history, and then after the twenty twenty three season, they basically shoved him out the door.

Time for a change. H Okay, you know, seventy two years old at the time. Now he's seventy three. He'll be seventy four in the upcoming season, and the Raiders, of all teams, the Raiders decide Pete Carroll is our guy. And understand this because you know, I've known Mark Davis for a long time, and Mark understands business. He also understands what he doesn't know about football. When he first took over the ownership after his father passed away, he brought in John Madden, and he brought in, you know, a lot of people that had an incredible background in football sort of help him with decisions. Obviously they didn't all work, but I mean he recognized I need people, I need help.

Yes, now he has Tom Brady.

What do you make of Tom Brady's input with the Raider organization and the decision to bring in a general manager that obviously has ties to Tom Brady in the past, and now bringing in Pete Carroll as the guy to somehow.

Right the ship in Las Vegas.

Well, number one, let's say Tom Brady's called him the shots, so exactly what you're saying is one hundred percent true. Yeah, Tom Brady made this higher, or I mean definitely didn't. He recommended this higher. I won't say he made it, but he recommended this higher. And I know this because of his respect for Pete Carroll. He's going on the record to say that we.

All he respects the fact that decided to talk instead of handling the ball after Marshawn Lynch and actually win that Super Bowl against that.

That's right, they should have to. But no, he definitely respects Pete Carroll. Now you bring in a guy that has cachet. He is a guy that relates to players, so those two things are checked off. And he's a winner, so that checks off. Obviously, he's older, but he doesn't look old. He's one of those anomalies that he looks like he has a lot of energy and I'm sure he has a lot left in the tank. So for me, this obviously isn't a long higher, but this is a hire to get them back into a position to compete and to be a factor in that division. Now, obviously you got the Chiefs and you got the Broncos who are ascending right now as well.

But they'll be in the mix.

And I think for Tom Brady, he wants to be in the mix, and so this gives him a chance to be in the mix.

Well, if anyone knows that you need a quarterback, it would be Tom Brady. Of course, there are a lot of mock drafts that are now saying when the Raiders are sitting at number six, the name Shadur Sanders is going to be there at number six. Do you think shad Sanders is going to drop to number six? And others is cam Ward? Would you draft cam Ward before shador Sanders?

Yes?

Why, Kim Ward's a better quarterback.

Shadua Sanders is very poised and he I think, and it's not a think, I know. I know he has a relationship with Tom so they already have the relationship. Chadua trained with Brady in the offseason and uses his quarterback guru as well, so that synergy's already there.

Will he fall to six? I could see a scenario where that happens.

Oh, but then the Raiders, if they really want shad Sanders can't Oh wait, I mean, you can't sit at six hoping he's going to be there. If she is your guy, for sure, you're not going to take any chances you need to move up. Yeah, here's the problem with that team. You got Max Crosby, yep, at least now, well he's saying he wants to go win somewhere.

Right, and you got brock Powers, yes, and everybody else is just a guy of course. Yeah, that's that's a long way to go to get to respectability.

Yeah it is.

But if anybody knows, like not, you know the work that it takes to win and how to win, and know how to structurally build from within to win, it will be Tom Brady. And Brady's had years where the same thing you're saying about the Raiders right now, it's it's Tom Brady and a bunch of guys and still win eleven eleven games in the season.

It's Tom Brady. So he would have the recipe for that. You know what I mean?

In my mind, well, Tom Brady would have a lot more cachet with the Raiders if he was walking into that locker room as their actual quarterback.

You know what I mean?

I mean, look, I think that when Pete Carroll walks into that locker room, he commands respect. Yeah, there's not a player on that Raider team that will not respect what this guy has done in the NFL. So I don't have It's like when Harvell walked into with the Chargers instant credibility. Okay, we're buying into whatever you're selling because you have proven over and over and over again, you know what you're doing, you know.

How to win. The Tom Brady effect. I'm still with you. I don't quite know how Tom Brady. I mean, look, his first season as a announcer.

A mixed bag. I mean, he's a rookie. At times I felt like he was talking above the audience. The problem for Tom Brady as a broadcaster is that, I mean, honestly, he looks like artificial intelligence.

I mean his appearance.

Now, you know, he's done so many things over the years that he doesn't even look human, to be honest with you. And if you looked at the magic of John Madden way back in the day, John Madden obviously new football, but it was the presentation.

He was a he was a relatable guy. He was that goofy uncle.

You know that obviously brings credibility as a Super Bowl champion, coach and everything else. Tom Brady is literally not relatable to the average human being because he's not an.

Average human being.

So beyond just what you're saying.

Well, he just that's how you know he.

I know, he tries to humanize himself in a lot of ways and brings a certain brand of humor when he can. But I'm sorry, I mean, the whole appearance thing and everything else just sort of puts some or puts a lot of people off. Yeah, ver or not, I'm not blaming him. I mean everyone should try to look the best they can, you know, I mean carry I mean like, I mean, this is unliable when I sit here, but I mean, but seriously, it'll be interesting to see now as he is in a position to make football decisions for an NFL franchise, if he can do Yeah.

No, it's a fair it's a fair criticism, fair critique, whatever the word would be.

I would say fair critique.

We don't know, but I think the point that you're making about, you know, being beyond reproach is a real thing, because you're walking on the eggshells a little bit and you're trying to do certain things to impress that person that's outside of character. So that happens. I mean, just like the the comparable that you just made right now. Though him and his broadcasting debut, it was a mixed bag. I mean, he didn't start off well. And what you said. Number one thing with I think doing color on TV is they're not there to hear you outspeak anybody or outspeak the situation. They want to watch football and they want it to be broken down for I'm doing their quotes people, but football for dummies like make it make.

It John Mad and Boom Boom boom, make it make it simple. They do.

And you talk about being like you talk about John Mann, that's I mean, I call him the serious John Candy, That's what I That's what I called. I mean, the goofy. Yeah, you know John Candy. But with Tom Brady, though, it's got to give him time. You saw John Elway do this. We've seen other players of high statue do it. Can Tom Brady come in right away and make this team a threat to Kansas City? Don't get your hopes up high, but can he bring them the recipe to win?

I think there's no better guy to do that.

Think about that division, Andy Reid, Sean Payton, I, Jim Harbaugh, Pete Carroll.

Who's the weakest link.

Well, the only guy that doesn't have that Super Bowl championship is Jim Harbor. By the way, did you see the very quick note? So they announced the finalist for the Pro Football Honors, and it's a little different. They finally changed the body.

For years, they would just have one vote, so even finishing second was tainted in a lot of ways. Like I remember one year Tom Brady got forty nine and a half votes and Brett Favre got half a vote and.

He was second. You know that that doesn't count.

Yeah, but now they actually have a layer like baseball, where they have the top five finishers. So they announced that the top five finishers for NFL Coach of the Year, and Jim Harbaugh was not on the list. How is that possible? He took over a five win team with no receiver that.

I say, no talent on the outside and.

Won eleven games and he's not one of the top five coaches this year in the NFL.

Yeah, that's it's I can't wait.

How is that possible?

Who are the top five I'll have to.

Look at I know Andy Reid was on that list. Now, I made an argument of all season long, when everyone's saying, this is the worst ten and one team ever, the worst eleven to one team ever.

Your top five for nominees for Coach of the Year Dan Campbell, Kevin O'Connell, Sean Payton, Dan Quinn, and Andy Reid the two finalists, Dan Quinn and Andy Reid.

Really and by the way, somebody.

Asked me because I kept saying, you remember, we were saying the Chiefs are the worst ten and one team ever, the worst eleven and one team, and the worst twelve and one team I Ever.

I go, well, if they're the worst twelve and one team ever, then Andy Reid must be doing a hell of a job.

I will say it at least tracks right because winning and losing silly me.

I think it still matters in the NFL.

But to your point, Mahomes is completely shut out of the MVP conversation. There's no Defensive Player of the Year conversation. The record has to be reflective of something. Somebody has to get somebody got to leave here with something. To paraphrase, Denzel Washington exactly.

So, I mean you could argument it's maybe Andy Reid's best year of coaching ever with the Kansas City Chiefs.

All right.

Coming up on the other side, Carrie's former team, the Jets. They're gonna try again.

Don't you do that now?

Aaron Glenn is a former Jet? Does that matter? Does that really matter? To understand the Jets organization and actually make them win it. It's not even a turnaround because it's turno from what they won a Super Bowl in nineteen sixty nine.

We'll break it down this this Fox Football Saturday.

Steve Harmon, carry Rhoads here, Fox Football Saturday. We're coming alive from the tirerech dot Com studios. Hey, don't forget after the short podcast is going up. So if you miss any of today's show, check out the podcast. Just search Fox Sports Radio whoever you get your podcasts.

Then follow rate and review the podcasts. Again, just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts. Just see the show posted right after we get off the air. It's a little warm in our studios right now. We've had a little problem with the air conditioning. Carry comes in here. Carrie's always dressed nicely, he's all ready to go and stylish and everything, and he's like, I'm gonna have the thermostat over here, and he's trying to adjust it and I'm like, that's your that's nothing's gonna happen.

That's that's dead. They have to come out that sweater really quickly.

Guys.

Yeah, it was a nice sweater, but we're down a T shirt. Time. Time, let's talk about your former team, the New York Jets again a franchise. By the way, Rex Ryan had guaranteed everybody that he was going to.

Be the next coach of the New York Jets.

I mean guaranteed ite. What happened to that guaranteed? Okay, So was he ever in the conversation.

I think he got a sympathy a sympathy meeting. There's no way they could have gone back to Rex at this moment.

And I've this is a guy who led the Jets to back to back AFC Championship game.

With somebody else's team, that's a different thing. Okay, So these are your years with the Jets, explain. So he already he inherited a team that was really good. So in eight we were really good. We had Brett Farv we were nine and three. Brett fab gets hurt and so we don't make the playoffs. We end up losing the last four games.

And then you draft a one year starter out of USC named Mark Sane.

That's right, but with every other part of that attached.

And then we bring on a couple of you know guys that Rex knew that new to system, and so it's like we were ready to go.

Mark Sentez didn't have to do much. We were ready to go.

So he inherited those players and we you know, we went to the SC championship game two times in a row.

And so after that, what's happened.

Well, they have a lot of playofses. I mean, this is the longest drought, not just in the NFL, of any team in any of the four professional sports.

Any of the four. Yes, that's bad.

Longest drought of not making the playoffs.

Yeah.

No, Rex couldn't have come in and been that coach Steve he had. Rex is a brilliant defensive coordinator. He is not your head coach if you're gonna win. He's not gonna have every situation crossed off.

And you know, Tease Crawls. He's not going to dot all the eyes.

But doesn't he become a much smarter defensive cordior when you have guys like Kerry Rose in.

Yes, and that's my point, right, So we were there, he was good. If they would have brought him in, it would have been a big mistake. And I and like I said, I think Rex is really talented as a defensive minded guy, but not in head coach.

All right, So Robert Sala was brought in a defensive guy, and that was to me the big question mark about this year's team. Aaron Rodgers started the whole season. Yeah, and we know there's offensive weapons, young players that you know, bres Hall Wilson.

I mean, these are young guys. You bring in Devonte Adams.

At the request obviously of Aaron Rodgers, But it wasn't the offense that sort of got me going to defense.

What happened to their defense?

Especially now you know it's interesting they fired Salad when they were two and three, and I mean that team completely disintegrated from that point. So now you bring in Aaron Glenn, former Jet you know Aaron Glenn. Yep, we had Martin I'm up in studio he's excited. He excited.

I'm I'm going to make an argument why Aaron Glenn is the right He's in a much better situation with the Jets. Who are you saying than somebody then Johnson is with the with the Bears. So do you buy that?

I mean, is Aaron Glenn after all these failed coaches they have had since those back to back runs to THEFC Championship game fourteen straight years without making the playoffs? Is there something that Aaron Glenn brings to the game that's gonna change that?

That's all.

That's a hard one, hard one for me because I think he I think he is the right higher for right now. And I say that because of the cash shay he has as a former player there right so just the announcing of his higher myself, Victor, you know, Victor Green Sean ellis like all these people that don't really talk about the Jets a lot, Like we're talking about the Jets and we're like, oh, that's pretty cool. We know that guy, we know what he's about. We know he's a winner, we know he's going to hold them accountable. And I think he's in a situation where all those talented players you just talked about, they actually have to check and look look at themselves in the mirror, right, and so they have to come back and bounce back from the year they had. So you'll have a motivated bunch of individual players that are really good players, and you have a coach that's going to hold them accountable. I think that recipe is a recipe for winning. Now, is he going to take them to the playoffs and they're going to make a deep run, I don't know, but as far as having them accountable and ready to play next year, he will do that.

Well.

I wasn't right about a lot of things this year as usual, but I did have the Broncos making the playoffs, so it's one of my The other thing I predicted is that the Jets, We're not.

Going to make the playoffs. I absolutely And we talked about this.

You were trying to defend Aaron Rodgers and I'm like, have you missed Aaron Rodgers is last year in Green Bay he fumbled, I mean, he was not good. Then he blows out his achilles, and now you're expecting him, in his forties to come back and lead the Jets to the Promised Land.

So many people bought into it. It just did not happen. Do you want him back? I wont him back for one more year? And you think he and you think they're gonna have like a double digit win season with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and Aaron Glenn as the head coach.

I think they can.

Now this isn't me saying I'm not going on a limb yet and saying yes, that's not what I'm doing. But I just think it's the perfect storm for the type of guy that Aaron Glenn is coming in and just the terrible season that they had, like their main players were there, the main culprits.

Mao in New England, Okay, now you know look at yeah Dimiko Ryans go down to Houston and a lot of people said, you know, well they had three straight one and done coaches there. Why you've had opportunities, why would you take this job? Well it turned out to be the right guy, the right job two straight years in the postseason. Mayo, who was a former Patriot, knew the Patriot way. You know, they basically passed on Vrabel to give Mail that opportunity, and the word out of New England was he was in over his head. He didn't.

I mean, he just wasn't the right guy at the right time. I mean he hopefully he will get an opportunity down the road. Now they're bringing a veteran coach in Rabel, you know, to get things right in New England.

How are you so convinced that Aaron Glenn.

As a first time head coach is the right guy on a team that is spiraling downward?

Easy.

He's everywhere he's been, He's been around success. He knows how to win. And if you know Aaron Glenn as a player, as a person, he knows what it takes to win. He was never the biggest guy, he was never the fastest guy. He knows what it takes to put into work to be that guy. And he's coming from a system in Detroit. What they never won. When they got there, they won, and they turned that thing around quickly.

And that last game was not exactly one. Oh, I understand that, but they had zero players down the stretch.

Look what they did against the Vikings.

Turn the ball over five times, they're not going to win. They would have won them. They didn't turn the ball over five The.

Manners went down the field on them, every single time they shut down the Vikings.

I hear you.

They were getting all this praise, you know, single coverage on Jefferson and sacking your ninth, all this kind of stuff. None of that showed up in the game against the Commanders. That's true, none of it.

That's true.

But again, Sam, don't Ronald didn't play well that game. And Jensen Daniels, oh, he played well. And so it always boils down to the quarterback again. And so you can talk about how good Detroit played against Minnesota that game, how many throws at Darnell missing that game. So there were opportunities for Minnesota to score and put up points as well. That team was depleted in Detroit and on the defensive side of the ball. But he's inherent inheriting that team with the Jets. If they're healthy, they're all the stars they have on that defense. They're way better than that Detroit defense.

They're not stars anymore.

I agree. I agree with that.

Maybe it's been stars a couple of years ago, but I didn't see any stars on that Jets defense this past year. I agree with you, Steve, all right, he's going to try to make him stars again, all right, let's find out what is a trending right now. So let's see what he makes of what the former Jets just had to say about your prediction.

He's he's in a court. I mean, he thinks that Aaron Glenn's the guy. But they thought Gerrod Mayo was the guy in New England and turned out he wasn't.

Well.

I mean, though Belichick thought Gerard Mayo was the guy to the point he even had it in his contract that he would be the coach of wedding for a year. And I mean, to be honest, I don't know how fair of a shake Gerrod got. Like I think the word.

Was is that it didn't go well for him, like he was. It might have been too much too soon for him.

I understand, Steve, but it's probably too much too soon.

I put it like this.

If it's too much too soon for Liam Cohen, guess what his job will be next year, head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Did you feel me like well, I mean you could say that about a lot of these guys.

So there's my point.

Brian Schottenheimer. Ready, I mean, I don't know. I don't think how many years has been a coordinator a long time. He never got a chance.

I bet you Cowboys win five games next year. Brian Schottenheimer is the head coach. Yeah, that's my point. That's what I said. Mayo, he never got it, Like, I don't sure. Maybe it was the worst situation of all time in year one h by the wayst of the time. Other way he get a chance in your two.

So I asked carry about Aaron Rodgers. He goes, well, I like them one more year. You're like, oh, he's got a couple more years in him. No, really, twenty games.

I said, twenty games, which there's seventeen in the regular season, so then you've got twenty I guess if you get to the super Bowl, twenty games over the span of the next two seasons.

I saw I could.

So you do have him playing the next two years, Steve, twenty games.

When do you get the twenty game?

You know, Week four, Week five?

Maybe you know. I can see a situation where they draft the guy.

Maybe Air comes in as even a backup in the year. In the last year.

If he won't back up, he'll be going. Here's what I would do. Here's what I would do if I were Aaron Glenn. I want a commitment right now from Aaron Rodgers.

Sure.

I do not want him to drag this out, you know, and we're all of a sudden and you know, you know, no, you'll need to make it.

I need you now to make that decision.

Sure, I mean, ultimately, I think Aaron Glenn also can just it seems to me that he'll be in power to make his own decision.

Oh he is.

Yeah, Like whether it's so Aaron Rodgers taking them while to making a decision might be the decision.

Yeah.

Eleven thirty nine left in the fourth quarter for the Mavericks and the Celtics. Right now, Boston smacking y'all boys ninety six to seventy eight, carry Roads the big Dallas Mavericks fan Jaylen Brown leading Celtics with seventeen points, Jason Tatum adding sixteen. Kristaps Wworzingis in this first game in Dallas since being traded he's missed the rest due to injury thirteen points. Derek White leading all scores with twenty one there and on the Dallas side of things, Kyrie's got twenty. Clinton Grimes had ten. He had the big third quarter for him, but not enough there's trailing. By nineteen the end of the first quarter, the Charlotte Hornets are beating the New Orleans Pelicans twenty eight to twenty three. Four minutes fourteen seconds left in the first quarter of the Pistons with a seventeen to eleven lead over the Magic, and that halftime, the Heat lead the Net fifty three to forty nine. Earlier today, the Indiana Pacers beat the San Antonio Spurs in Paris one, thirty six to ninety eight. In Minnesota beat Denver won thirty three to one O four. Anthony Edwards became the franchise leader in three pointers made, taking that record from a former Timberwolf Cri Anthony Towns. Washington Commander's downgrade Dron Payne. He's out for tomorrow's game against the Eagles. He's got a knee injury. Brian Schottenheimer's getting a four year contract. As you got promoted from offensive coordinator to the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and Madison Keys. Won her first Grand Slam title with an upset of Arena Sablenka. She entered the matches the nineteenth seed, so big upset for the American Back to you guys.

Yeah, I love that story. I love that story about Maddison Key.

She's she hasn't given up and her dream to win a Grand Slam, and now she is a Grand Slam champion. All right, once again, here we are on this incredible Saturday as we get ready for tomorrow's Conference Championship games. Steve Hartman and Carry Rhodes with you coming in live from the tire rack dot Com studios.

All right, Mary Mac, it is that time, all right.

So this is the point of the show, Harry, where Moncey and I do our picks. No one has ever lost to me making head to head pits, and now Moncey.

Is on our way to victory. So Patrick, where are the points?

We use like a Stableford system, okay, instead of just like one loss percentage.

I've tried to change the rules so.

Many times to gain the advantage, and everything I've done has worked against me, not for me.

Point wise, where are we right now?

So last week, before you guys made your picks, Monsey was sitting at thirty seven.

You were at thirty one. Steve.

Now, after the three games we picked with all that stuff, both of you actually gained the same amount of points. It's plus two for Monzy and a plus two for Steve. That puts our total at thirty nine points for Monsey thirty three for Steve.

All right, so there are three games left. Yes, I'm trying to do the math of my head. I guess technically I could possibly still catch her, but.

It's you have to little monopolize it.

Well, I'm here's what I'm gonna do today. I'm gonna have Carrie Rhoades make my picks. Oh okay, okay, So Matzi gave you her picks.

Yes, she did give her. She did give her picks. She gets to go first on one of the games and then the other will go you and carry.

So let let me explain how this works, Carrie. So, now that we're in the playoffs, we're picking against the point spread. So we're not just picking a winner. We're gonna go pick a winner against the spread. That's one.

Got it.

The over under, this is something I thought of before the season would be a great idea.

It was great for her, not for me. So here's how the over under works.

If you correctly predict the over under, you get a point, but if you get it wrong, you lose a point.

So it's one of those.

And then we have what we call the bold prediction. Now, I'll give you an example. I predicted that Jared Goff was going to have more interceptions than touchdown passes against the Commanders three to one.

Wow, And I was right.

Now that's a bold prediction, right, And I got that one right. Some of my other's not so much.

There's no penalty on the bold prediction, but you got to think of something, you know above the reasonable pick. Got it, all right, So that's what you're gonna do in my place today. So all right, Patrick, what game are we starting with?

So we're gonna start with the Commanders taking on the Eagles. Eagles are home and six point favorites at home. By the way, the over under for that game is forty seven and a half. And I would say monthly, but on use it to go first. But since she mailed in her picks to me, I will be the acting monsei. She will pick the Commanders. She's taking the Commanders a cover. She's not going to take it over and under. So you're free to go on that one. See if you want to. She will take a bold she says Jade and Daniels will throw two interceptions.

Two interceptions even though she thinks they'll cover the spread.

Yeah, I mean it's bold, especially based off that, but Jayden Daniels has been kind of turnover free ish pretty much.

So I mean I'll take that as a bowl. That's good enough for me.

All right, Carrie, Uh, let's start with the game itself.

Wow, all right, the I'm going to take the Commanders to cover as well.

Okay, you realize that doesn't get me back in the game.

Oh wait, wait, okay, it doesn't get you back because you got to do something opposite of her.

Right, Well, I mean you could agree with all our picks and guaranteed I I mean, okay.

Maybe the exacta I know what.

You know what, No, make make your pick?

Go ahead, Dave.

All right, Well, first of all, I do unlike you, guys, I don't know what you're smoking. Do you think it's I think it's I think the Eagles again their division game. I know that the Commanders beat him late in the year at home thirty six thirty three, but the earlier game wasn't all that close. The last week against the Commander, the Commanders gave up eight point seven yards to carry against the Lions. And now you got Sae Kwon Barkley. I mean he should run wild against the Commander. I just don't think he is.

I'm gonna tell you.

I'm gonna tell you the bull pick is gonna be under a hundred yards. Okay, Well, I don't know if is that a.

Bull pick.

Two hundred against?

Okay, So you're saying, are you gonna buy that under one hundred?

Well, considering they just lost her on Painn, who's a pretty good defensive tackle for the Commanders, I'm gonna buy will buy that.

One, Okay.

So I'm I'm gonna go with your bold. I'm gonna go with my pick. Now, I'm gonna lean on you on this over under. I have got to pick this over under correctly. The over under is what net Patrick over runners for seven and a half forty seven and a half carry. I'm gonna lean on you forty seven and a half? Is this game an over or under? It's gonna be good weather in Philly. The Commanders are going to score some points, and I know the Eagle's going to score.

I could see it. Oh, I can see this game being like twenty eight twenty two, so I'll go over, okay, over over all, right, so put that down. We're gonna go over in this game.

And it's Eagles covering right.

Eagles covering over in the bold prediction is Barkley under one hundred yards? Yes, sir, we got it.

Okay.

On the other side, we'll get to the AFC Championship game.

This time.

We got to pick first.

Yes, so we don't know what Monsi's picking. So this is there's a lot of pressure here. I need you, I got you. This is Fox Football Saturday, Steve Harvey, Kerry Rhodes, Fox Football Saturday, coming alive from the tire rack dot Com studios. Want to thank Martin today for his input. As always, he's got his own show to get ready for Mary Mack. She's having a good time these days, Carrie. She's twenty one. Oh, I know, I know she's having a good time these.

Days, my girl Mary Mac.

And then, of course our brilliant producer Patrick who's not twenty one, although he could be.

He's still acts at times.

He's got that youthful energy very much. That's my guy, very much. Yep, my guy.

All right, So Patrick, our picks are in for the NFC Championship Game. Now, I know we go first this time, so this one is gonna make it much more different and Carrie is definitely going to carry this one so much. AFC Championship Game, Chiefs Bills give us the numbers.

Yes, so the Chiefs are home for this one. They are in fact two and a half point favorites here, and the over under for this game is actually pretty close to the last one except plus one. It's forty eight point five and a half.

All right, carry, I'm gonna leave all of this up to you. Let's start with the pick. Chiefs are two and a half point favorites. Who covers.

I'm taking the Bills.

Here, Bills plus two and a half?

Yeah right, Yeah, I did it.

And I got to pick the over runner. If you take it then no, no, no, no.

You, I got you.

I mean I have to but your pick. Oh okay, I got you forty eight and a half. So it's a bigger number than the other game, forty eight and a half.

And I'm definitely going under under both of these defenses are both of these defenses are really good.

They're going to be ready, and you.

Know the teams have Yeah, I'm gonna take the under. Okay, so Bills plus the points going under. Do you have a bold prediction for this game? Give me one, car my bold prediction. Yes, sir, is Cooks.

Cook is actually gonna eclipse to one hundred yard market. He's going to be the big factor in this game. Wow, that is bold.

So Cook's gonna have over one hundred yards rushing for the Bills.

That's right?

Is that bold enough?

I like it? You know what?

That's that's specific enough, especially because Josh likes to running himself one hundred yards.

Let's go.

I mean, I don't think a lot of people going into this weekend would have James Cook having more rushing yards and Saquon Barkley yep.

But that's where Karry Rhoades is standing. So there you go. All right, very very good. All right, Now we got to find out what Moncy.

Did, all right.

So Moncey picked the chiefs. She's gonna do the chiefs covering this one. She will not go over under personally, she was gonna wait and see what you picked first. So it's because you took you or Carrie, it took the under. She was gonna take the under. If you guys did not.

She will not very good.

She does have a bowl, though, and this one is a little specific. It's so specific that I really like it.

Bold.

The Chiefs get more flags than the Bills in this game, and I'm here for that.

Yes, Now, do you.

Believe that's a bold prediction that the Chiefs will be called for more penalties?

Well?

You know, again, we gotta be See.

The thing about penalties is sometimes you're called for a penalty, but the play negates the penalties. So this is penalties that actually are incurred. Do you believe that that is a bold prediction that the Chiefs will actually have more penalties than the Bills.

I don't know if it's bold, but I do know that the funny part of the idea is the Chiefs get all the favorable of course, no, I know, we talked about it earlier, but I if they do, they'll get all the ones that's insignificant.

They'll be the five yarders or something, So we'll go for that one.

I will go for a boll then't that would be it? That's else she's got, all right, So let's get your own predictions here. I want to hear for a couple of scores, from Carrie Rose. Right now, start with that NFC championship game.

You have it, what now the AFC or NFC, NFC, NFC, I have it twenty eight twenty two Eagles, But I actually want the I feel the Commanders are going to make this game really close though.

I think this game is what you do thirty five seventeen Eagles. I mean, I just I don't I don't see how the Commanders are going to stop Barkley.

I know you've made that bold prediction.

Yeah, the Eagles are playing pretty good football right now.

The Eagles play down at their competition. I know it's a big moment though, so they maybe not.

Well, I mean, what did what did you make of that game against the Rams? Because after Barkley had that huge run, the game was like over. I was even listening to the RAM broadcast and they're like over, And the next thing you know, the Rams go right down the field and then actually had a chance to win the game late.

Yeah. If it was was.

That on the Rams or was that the Eagles?

It was a combination of both. But I picked the Rams to win that game.

Yeah. A lot of people did.

Yeah, no, and they I think I did too. If it was a good weather, I think they would have won that game anyway. But yeah soought Okay.

So that's twenty eight to twenty two is your prediction, Eagles over the Commanders.

And then in the AFC Championship game.

That one I have the Bills win twenty four to twenty.

So the Bills and Josh Allen is four and one against Mahomes in the regular season and zero to three in the postseason.

It's his time, it's the time he beats gonna beat Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes to go to the Super Bowl.

Here's my thing about the Chiefs and the Bills. So you think about this, the Bills lost four straight Super Bowls. Yeah no, by the way, the only team to actually play in four straight Super Bowls and they lost them all. The Bills will lose four straight times to Patrick Mahomes, and I don't want that to happen.

Steve, you're a history man.

How cool would it be if it was a replay of the nineteen ninety one championship game with the Redskins, Yes, and the Bills.

I was at that game in Minneapolis. I was actually at that game. We could have can you see my ass off in Minneapolis. How will we get it? Zero degrees?

That should be a Super Bowl side. All Right, the pigs are in and we're going to continue to roll on. This is Fox Sports Radio.
