On this week's edition of Four State Focus, Jimmy Key sits down with Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman to talk about her work to modernize the Comptroller's Office and make state government work better for Marylanders.

🔹 FEATURED INTERVIEW: Lierman, Maryland's 34th Comptroller and the first woman independently elected to one of the state's constitutional offices, talks about her background as an attorney and former member of the Maryland House of Delegates and how those experiences have shaped her approach as Comptroller.

A major focus of the conversation is Maryland Tax Connect, the state's new online tax portal. The system expanded to individual taxpayers on Sept. 1, bringing Maryland's tax processing system fully off technology that was more than 30 years old.

Lierman explains how the new portal is designed to make dealing with state taxes simpler, more secure and more convenient, giving Marylanders one place to file returns, make payments, check refunds, view account information and more.

💻 It's all part of what Lierman says is a larger effort to bring the Comptroller's Office into the 21st century and improve how Marylanders interact with state government.
