The Flinders Fringe Festival story started over a cup of coffee.. its humble beginnings culminating in a truly successful first year, thanks to a magical combination of creativity, passion and generosity.

This episode we hear from Melissa Jackson, festival director, and Claire Thorn, festival Convenor.

They take us on the journey of the Flinders fringe, introduce us to percussionist Paul Grage, and artist Josh Searle, both showcasing work at the Flinders Fringe.

The Flinders Fringe Festival Story

In this special episode of the Flinders Fringe Festival Podcast, we explore LIMB: Ode to the Trees, a breathtaking dance-theatre performance that brings the spirit of the forest to life.

Created by a team of Mornington Peninsula artists, led by Sally Grage-Moore, Poul Grage, Ian Cuming, and Carole Patullo, LIMB intertwines dance, puppetry, live music, text, and stunning projection to tell the stories of four magnificent trees across the Mornington Peninsula, on Bunurong Country.

Featuring a towering moving tree sculpture, mesmerising visuals, and a soundscape inspired by nature, this performance immerses the audience in a living, breathing forest.

Sea Wolves Howl Returns

Opera Closets is an original, theatrical piece written and performed by multi award-winning Australian mezzo soprano Dimity Shepherd, where every outfit tells a story and every story has a song.

Opera Closets is part of a 3-part project, generously supported by Mornington Peninsula Shire Performing Arts Development Grant 2023-24.

A creative concept that examines the power of costume and dress to convey expression and conceived to engage the community by providing artistic and meaningful content that's thought provoking, arresting and educational.

It includes an exhibition, a fashion forum and an original performance piece.

This episode features Festival Director Melissa Jackson, and performer Dimity Shepherd in conversation.
