It has been 7 days since Hurricane Helene hit East Tennessee and North Carolina. There are still people missing. There are still people cut off from the world. There are so many people who lost everything. 

For the last 6 days, once I fully realized the severity of the situation, I have been praying Romans 15:13 over the people affected by the storm. I pray God gives them peace and hope.

One week later

As of publishing it has been 6 days since Hurricane Helene ravaged East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. Yesterday I tagged along with Nancy Barger and Producer Karly from the Joey and Nancy Morning Show on WIVK and we followed our supply truck up to Erwin, Tennessee. It was an emotionally heavy day seeing the devastation our neighbors have endured. But there was an interesting moment of levity and we relished it. A silver lining if you will.

I got to see Treaty Oak Revival at the Tennessee Valley Fair. I got their early and met their opener, Knoxville Native, Marlee Hart. I am always fascinated by the journey young musicians are on. This gal is chasing her dream. She came to the studio one day and this is the conversation we had.

My Dad is retiring today. I didn't realize how emotional about it I would be. I want to thank him for how hard he worked for our family. Of course I never properly appreciated his efforts when I was growing up. But now as an adult I can see what he did for us. Thank you Dad. I love you.

He Earned It

I literally dozed off while editing this podcast. I was listening to a sleep expert recently and he said to optimize sleep and brain function you need to sleep later. I got really mad at that advice because DUH don't you think if we COULD sleep an extra 20 minutes everyday, we WOULD. I talk about that comment and how it stuck in my craw and go over my lack of sleep schedule. I would imagine most parents who work and have kids have similar non sleep schedules like mine.
