Civic organization, Save South Africa Civic Movement is calling on the government to abolish the age limit for recruitment in the police and defence forces. The group claims that the current age restriction of 35 is exacerbating unemployment and contributing to higher crime rates. In a statement, the movement argued that the age limit is discriminatory and neglects individuals between 36 and 59 years old, who are often fit and able to work.
