More than 20 anti-migrant organizations and civil groups have declared their intention to take to the streets come June 30. The groups, say their action will remain peaceful, with no violence, looting, or loss of life. However, their central message is clear: they are calling for undocumented foreign nationals to leave the country by Tuesday. At a media briefing, March and March leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma said the movement has broad support across South African society, including political and civil sectors. The MK Party was also present at the briefing. The groups have criticized government spending on security for the planned protests, as well as the response from institutions such as the Human Rights Commission. We spoke to Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, leader of March and March.

Auditor-General Tsakani Maluleke says municipalities have made limited progress in improving audit outcomes over the past four years. Speaking in Parliament, Maluleke revealed that only 39 municipalities achieved clean audits, while audit outcomes in metros continue to decline. However, she highlighted improvements in financial reporting, with 61% of municipalities receiving unqualified audit opinions and a record 98% submitting financial statements on time. We spoke to Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in Parliament Dr Zweli Mkhize  and Director of the School of Public Leadership at Stellenbosch University, Professor Zwelinzima Ndevu.
