Singapore held its first contested presidential election in more than a decade on the 1st of September 2023. Observers have said that the result of this election would be an indicator of support for the People's Action Party ahead of the general election. This is also following on a series of recent scandals including a corruption probe into the transport minister, and the resignation of two PAP legislators over an affair.
