The new Perikatan Nasional cabinet is emphasising the development and rights of Sabah and Sarawak, with a new ministry dedicated to East Malaysia policies and an increase in the number of ministers and deputies from the region to boot. We talk to James Chin, Director of the Asia Institute at the University of Tasmania, to understand what impact this will have for these two states in terms of policy - and beyond.
