Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth recently announced their plans to hold a rally to protest the decision to grant Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi a DNAA on 47 charges. Following that, the deputy inspector-general issued a warning that action would be taken against rally organisers and participants, as they had not received a permit application. So we thought, what better time to get a refresher on the principles of freedom of assembly, and whether this should extend to everyone regardless of political inclination?
