The pathophysiology of ARDS is complex and remains incompletely understood. However, it is clear that ARDS is not simply a disease of the alveoli.
Understanding the pathological basis of ARDS will assist in the development of new therapies for this potentially fatal disease.
One such avenue is the role of thrombolysis. Professor Anders Aneman and Dr Lucy Coupland are leaders of a new program of research looking at this potential intervention.
