Melbourne's Munt have emerged with their hybrid mix of extreme metal, bitter black metal that melds into chaotic grindcore, with a pounding D-beat influence that fuses seamlessly with percussive, modern hardcore sensibilities
They have a new EP, ‘Pain Ouroboros’ out now, with two singles released with videos
This is Munt’s fourth EP, after about seven years together, leans further into infusing death metal into an already vicious experience
They bring a rather unique sound to the Aussie metal scene, with a level of extremity that widens current boundaries
I was very pleased to be joined by drummer from Munt, Jared, joining me on the line from Melbourne

Adelaide’s Freedom of Fear, a band well known to Central Australian and South Aussie audiences, but one that should definitely have a larger presence
They have four of the most talented musicians I’ve ever seen together and their live show blows away more seasoned artists
Freedom of Fear destroyed all comers at Blacken at the end of July and now have another big statement, their new second album ‘Carpathia’, which came out on 21 October
It is an absolute must buy, you can get a copy through EVP Recordings or the Freedom of Fear bandcamp page
And it was incumbent on me to reach out to the band, to give this album it’s proper due

IRONHAWK emerged in 2013 at a ramshackle basement gig where a hijack of the stage to butcher a handful of Motörhead covers, the trio is the unholy trinity of Simon Slaughter, Mitch, and Angie Climax
After two previous Eps IRONHAWK have now released their first full length, and it is a bullet to the head of leather-clad blackened metalpunk
‘Ritual of the Warpath’ is what the album is called, it is out now on Dying Victims Productions
I’m loving this release, a brutalising 37 minutes of rare Aussie metal, there aren’t many bands doing this style this well, highly recommended
So I was very pleased to have a laugh and chat with Simon & Angie from Ironhawk, joining on the line from the Huon Valley in Tassie.

•    Psych doom stoner agents Motherslug, a band from Melbourne, four piece who have been together for more than a decade now
•    Motherslug have crafted a dark, dirty and outrageously heavy opus in the follow up to their 2017 release ‘The Electric Dunes Of Titan. 
•    ‘Blood Moon Blues’ it’s a densely packed ride with lonely melodies lurking within a seething swarm of huge tones
•    So glad to see this band back, and Aussie doom fans and fans of heavy music generally will be very pleased as they have always been one of the best, if not the best Aussie doom band and just keep getting more interesting over time 
•    So I was very pleased, after a long absence from Eruption to speak with lead singer, the head slugger from Motherslug, Cam Crichton, joining on the line from Melbourne

•  Over those years Mountain Wizard Death Cult have established themselves as a powerful band on the Sydney live scene

•  There is an undeniable chemistry that exists amongst these four lads, all hailing from the western side of Sydney

•  Their sound has elements of doom, sludge, death even, but heaps of texture and atmosphere

•  Mountain Wizard Death Cult were named to come out for Blacken last year before postponement, and we are fortunate to now learn of confirmation they will be coming as part of the line-up for 2022

•  They will bring a harsh brutality to the Ross River stage, as amply demonstrated by their new single ‘Initiation’

Sunshine Coast band Warrior Within
Warrior Within have been around a long time, since 1992 in fact with brothers Tass and Toli Hadoulis, but have really only solidified these past couple of years with a full line up
They’ve released two EPs titled In Light Act II, which was a follow up EP to 2018's In Darkness Act I
And so as they re-release some older tracks from those earlier EPs it was great to speak with Tass & Toli Hadoulis, brothers and guitarist and bassist from Warrior Within, joining me on Eruption
