Will Israel be kicked out of the Eurovision song contest? 

Sweeping UN economic and military sanctions have been reimposed on Iran - 10 years after they were lifted in a landmark international deal over its nuclear program.

The new measures took effect as the three European partners to the deal - the UK, France and Germany - activated the so-called "snapback" mechanism, accusing Iran of "continued nuclear escalation" and lack of co-operation.

Iran suspended inspections of its nuclear facilities - a legal obligation under the terms of the 2015 deal - after Israel and the US bombed several of its nuclear sites and military bases in June.

After world concerts, symphonic poem "Genesis" to be performed in Israel

The 41st Jerusalem Film Festival gets underway on July 18th with the traditional special opening ceremony under the stars at Jerusalem’s Sultan’s Pool before some 6,000 spectators with the screening of the film “Thelma.”

41st Jerusalem Film Fest opening July 18th

A special Purim seuda, holiday meal, was held this week at Sheba medical center in Tel HaShomer for some 200 IDF injured soldiers. The event, which included a megillah reading, entertainment and more, was organized by Olamit Wolf, a Tel Aviv-based holistic therapist who has been involved in providing food to soldiers since the beginning of the war. She was involved in organizing similar events over the holiday at Ichilov hospital in Tel Aviv and the Beit Leowenstein Rehabilitation Center. Wolf spoke to KAN's Naomi Segal about initiative.

Cancer survivors mark their journey with ink

The Herzog College English Education Department is hosting a special tribute evening Tuesday, June 20th, to honor the memory of Lucy Dee, who was murdered along with two of her daughters, Maia and Rina, in a terrorist attack in the Jordan Valley this past April. Lucy Dee was a graduate of the Herzog College English Education course, and a beloved English teacher. The tribute evening is taking place in Migdal Oz, and will also be viewable on Zoom. The evening will include tributes from Lucy's colleagues and classmates, pedagogical workshops, and discussion of ways to inspire others to emulate the passion, values and leadership Lucy modeled in her teaching. Herzog College faculty member Dr. Amy Gelbart spoke to KAN's Naomi Segal about the event.

As part of recent events in Israel marking "Blind Day," a day for enhancing awareness and empathy for the blind and visually impaired community, the Knesset launched a new audio guidance system, one of the many accessibility initiatives in use in the parliament complex. The personalized audio wayfinding system is a product developed by Israeli start-up RightHear, which connects a dedicated mobile application to strategically placed wireless beacons in public spaces and accessibility points. The system provides audio descriptions of the environment and directly transmits them to smartphones or tablets, enabling individuals who are blind, visually impaired or who have difficulty orienting themselves, experience the world securely.  Reporter Naomi Segal heard more from Idan Meir co-founder and CEO of RightHear.

Edelstein was spiritual leader of the Degel HaTorah political faction and head of the Ponovezh yeshiva in Bnei Brak. Prof. Benjamin Brown, of the Dept. of Jewish Thought at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the Israel Democracy Institute, spoke to KAN's Naomi Segal about Rabbi Edelstein.
