Tensions within the coalition over legislation being advanced by Religious Services Minister Matan Kahana of Yamina to reform the system for Jewish conversions. Members in the Yisrael Beiteinu and Yesh Atid factions are said to be dissatisfied with progress on the issue and elements of the proposal. A point of contention is that under Kahana's proposal, the Chief Rabbinate retains control over the conversion courts established by municipal chief rabbis. KAN reporter Naomi Segal heard more about the issue from Dafi Forer Kremer, Managing Director of Itim, an organization that works for inclusion in the religious establishment.
