So just scroll down in your Apple and you'll be able to connect to a really powerful episode where Darryl does what he does this episode, we are going to be diving into him helping us understand mercury retrograde. Mercury retrograde has to be one of the most instagrammable astrology terms, one of the most misunderstood, and definitely the one that people that roll their eyes at astrology love to laugh about or make fun of.
Oh is it.
Mercury retrograde or whatever they call it? I see so many different kind of memes about it. But mercury retrograde is a really interesting transit that happens a few times in the year that is best known for hindering communication. But I found it to be and much to the help from the help of Daryl, I found it to be a really beautiful tool to actually help you get very very clear on your life and help you pay attention and really observe the themes that are out at play and the current things going on. So before we dive into Darryl, let's have a little catch up time. As of this exact moment, I'm recording this episode in London, England. I'm on a trip here and it's my first time in London. I think I've definitely turned into a euro girly in the summer, so for the second summer in a row, I am on the other side of the pond and just set the stage for you. London is stunning right now, like so beautiful. I've always growing up, I never had cable and so I always just had to kind of watch what was on public TV. And I shared in a recent episode like PBS was my jam. But something else I used to always watch was this show like a lot of like the British like public access shows when I was thinking, like stuff from the seventies and there was just nothing on. But I've been fascinated with British culture ever since. But every time I would see it on TV or I would see it, you know in all the places, it always seemed like it was, you know, just very overcast all the time. And I'm still really beautiful, but a little more gray. And as of this week that I'm in London, it is hot bay. It is so hot and sunny and beautiful and striking, and I'm just really taken by the city, and I'm taken by the food and the people and the ease, and I'm really forgetting that I'm even in another country. I feel like I'm in New York right now, but with a different kind of edge. And it's lovely. It's beautiful. I'm so deeply enjoying myself. On my flight here, I was looking through some old kind of life notes. I keep this very very long list of thoughts, and I'm always kind of waiting for the strike of a breakthrough thought or an idea and writing it down or furiously typing it away. And I was looking back at some of the notes that I've written in the past, and I just had a few I want to share. I'm actually exploring a lot of these notes. It's in my upcoming book, which I can't wait to share that I have some new details on. My publisher is actually shipping me the completed manuscript with all the edits and all the things. It's a process. For those that haven't written their books yet, and for those that have, I know you may resonate. It is wow, it's cathartic. It is a birthing. And then the editing process is so damn cringe like you're just like, ah, wait, but this is my life. I don't want to pull it apart. But you have a few rounds of edits and then you just you keep reading your book, you keep reading it, and you keep kind of fine tuning it. So I'm in the process of my very last edit that I get, and so my publisher is shipping me a copy to London that should arrive at my hotel that I'll be able to finish this week. But a lot of the things that I've been kind of jotting down in my notes, it's pages and pages. I've been doing this for about ten years since I became an iPhone user. So I just wanted to share a couple of things that I've written down throughout the year that I was thinking about that I haven't necessarily had the chance to expand on in a social media post or on this podcast. So one of the things that I found myself writing down was this one sentence that says, if you pretend someone is who they are not, then they get to pretend to. If you pretend someone is who they are not, they get to pretend to. And part of my thought process in writing this, and you might be hearing this and have a chance to apply it in a completely different way to something that you're processing or working on right now. But you know, I was thinking how in this day and age. We are just so deeply caught in this incessant performance. So many not all right, but so many. We have been steeped in this culture of perception versus reality now for probably a solid fifteen years in social media, and I think not just in terms of perception on social media, but also when we have people in our lives where things go unsaid or we are just kind of bypassing what we know to be true or discomfort that we know is present, and to a deeper extent, when we allow people to lie and it goes unchecked in whatever capacity. You know, we might think that we are avoiding maybe discomfort or avoiding rocking the boat, and think it might be easier to just you know, not get involved or not say something. But whether it's on a macro or a micro level, when we choose to engage with someone else's pretend, we are giving the permission to do it in a bigger a small whether we're seeing this play out in politics with kind of very grandiose pathological line, to be quite honest, or if we're seeing it happen in our own households or with our family systems or with people we know, you know, it's just integrity is important, and it's important more now than I think really ever. There have to be some very serious shifts in our consciousness and our lives in the way that we allow people to show up. I've been speaking of this a lot this season, but we're seeing, you know, some of the backlash of quote unquote influencer culture and the demise of it, and we're really kind of seeing this scam culture and the effect that it's had. All of this. You know, if I write it in my bio, if I put it on my social media, then it's true. No it's not. No, it's not. And it's dangerous do that. It's dangerous to let pretend and make believe and lying and things happen just because we're used to it in our zeitgeist. So food for thought and whatever capacity this may apply. If you pretend someone is who they are not, they get to pretend to And how much more meaningful could life be if we stopped pretending and we stopped performing. I want to be in what's real. I want to live a real life. I want my human experience, and I want to bypass it. Another thing that I wrote down that I was thinking about I remember really long time ago when I had started this program that I was working in. I've always, probably my whole life, I've been in search of kind of understanding what the word forgiveness meant. It always struck me, even before I really had things to forgive, this idea of forgiveness, the way that it was shared, especially biblically, or you know, when people wanted you to move forward or get over something. You know, this word it has so many different kind of definitions, but none of them included how to, and none of them included like what the feeling would be on the other side of it. And I remember some years ago I was in this program with one of my teachers, uh doctor Ron Holmik, and it was actually the first day of class, and I just stood up and he was talking about the power of forgiveness, and I was like, what does that mean, Like, like, stop just saying things that are so broad, like forgiveness is for you or you know, you know, for those that are in the lineage of Christianity, you know this idea of forgiving or being forgiven, or you know that we must forgive or it was just like I understand and I'm not disagreeing, but I do want to know what does it mean and how do you do it? Because I also saw this idea of you know, forgiving and forgetting, and I think that that can be really unfair, right, you can forgive something and you can then still choose to not engage with it because it's not a healthy choice for you. And so I wrote down I had this this kind of moment where I felt that I was able to define what it meant from a somatic standpoint. And so what I wrote down in my journaling and in my life notes is forgiveness is releasing the charge that you hold in your body for something that happened. And I realized for myself like just like the profound shifts board in my life came not when I cognitively was like, okay, I forgiveness or I've moved on, but when the feeling of it left my physical body and I could come into a place of observation for whatever it was, right, big or small, whether it was an interaction or an a fence with someone, or whether it was one of those deeper layers of trauma or experiences that you know you're not really designed to forget, but Forgiveness is releasing the charge you hold in your body. And it is a process, and it's not something that should be done quickly. It's the work of our lives. So it's something that should be really seen, felt, observed, something that quite honestly, in some ways should be savored, right, It should be rolled over, it should be chewed upon and digested. But then you do get there, not just for one thing, but for all the things and for all the people, and you tap into this flow of universal compassion that everyone at whatever point, at whatever moment, is a child of God, is worthy. And it doesn't mean you have to engage with them or like them or know them. But it's so important to forgive something in everything, in the ways that you're able. There's absolutely no pressure in doing this. And I want to just recognize that as you're listening, you have gone through things I know nothing about, and so this is not prescriptive, but this is my experience. But when you're able to kind of somatically get inside your body, two things are happening. It's the one thing that we hear that takes time to understand that forgiveness is for you, not for them, and the meaning of that is the charge gets to leave your body, the feeling, the way that you're relating to how something is inside of you. It dissolves, it changes form, it releases, and then you just have the exp experience itself without all of the active connection to it. So those were two things I was kind of thinking of and reviewing that I've written down over the years that I thought I would share here. If any of it resonates, hit me up, leave me a DM or a comment, and if you get a chance, please rate and REVIIW this episode with five stars in a written review as you seep it so quickly. I also want to shout out the Paris Olympics. I've been catching them a little bit here and there, and they just look so beautiful. And shout out to Simone Biles, rep in h Town. Just I mean, at twenty seven years old, the most decorated gymnast male or female of all time in America and just exceptional. And I want to say that I'm just loving the way she is showing up in the world. You know, always in sports with women, it's been that if women kind of have the same bravado or the same excitement or the same level of confidence and their abilities and the things that they work their butts off for. It's seen as like uncouth in some way, or unfeminine or you know, just a little grotesque. Something's wrong with it, which is absolutely ridiculous. And to see Simone like taking up space in the way that she is in her greatness right now as she is at the Paris Olympics, like it's just so dope while still kind of retaining you know, her beauty, her charm, her graciousness, her gratitude. I'm just loving it. So simple and easy, but shout out to her. I think she is exceptional. And I'm really loving the way I mentioned this last episode. But Paris is doing the Olympics and just really highlighting the beauty and the art and the ancientness of the culture and the city and all of the great feats of humanity and the things that they've built over centuries. The games, many of them are taking place like in front of some of their greatest landmarks, and it's just really special and beautiful and I'm inspired by deeply. Well, all right, let's get into it with my dear friend Darryl Gaines, the master atrologer. There is no one like him. There's no one with a voice like that and a vision like that, and just such a remarkable ability to unfold. What he has come to help me understand is such a beautiful, sacred science. So without further ado, let's tap into Daryl Gaines and mercury retrograde.
Welcome everyone to this special episode on mercury retrograde, one of the most talked about terms in astrology. Well, well, thank you so much, my friend Darryl Gains for that breath taking breakdown of mercury retrograde. And the sacred science of astrology. It was really amazing hearing specifically how mercury retrograde can be broken down for each specific sign. And it's always kind of recommended that when you are exploring your sign you do it with kind of your top three, which is your sun sign, your moon sign, and your rising. And the way I understand these three signs to exist is the sun is kind of your identity, it's your purpose, it's how you move in the world. It contains a lot of the gifts that you use, especially in career or whatever way you take up space, whatever your work is while you're alive. Your moon sign is really rooted in your emotional life, in your karma and the things that have happened to you and who you've become because of them, and your rising is really kind of rooted in how you're being perceived, how people experience you and your unique personality and unique gifts and how they show up in the world. And so when you think about how Daryl broke down mercury retrograde, think about it definitely with your sun sign, but then take kind of a look at what you're rising, what your moon is, and if you don't know those other two. There's some really great apps that can help you figure them out, like the Pattern shout out to Lisa Donovan, I love that app, and also co Star is a really solid app and loving the update that they've had, and there's a few other whatever you resonate with, there's calculators online, or you can do yourself a huge favor and book a session, and Darryl's giving some extra special opportunities for those that book with him. So all the links to connect with Darryl Gains and Guiding Planet Astrology are below in the notes of this episode, and you can also hit him up on IG at Guiding Planet. So I always look at mine. I actually have a Gemini sun and a moon, and so I thought it was really you know something I've known, which he shared, is that it's very significant for me. I feel all the things and it always tends to tap into communication at the deepest level for me because Geminis are of the zodiac the master communicators, so communication is extremely important to me, especially for my emotional world. And I also take a lot of pleasure in understanding emotions and unpacking them and communicating about them. So that is how I always tap into my mercury retrograde. So have some fun with that, and I think your soul work for this week until we reconnect to our summer astrology series with Daryl Well, is to really think about, you know, mercury retrograde. If it's meant to impact communication, and we're looking at this upcoming transit, I want you to start to notice the areas of your life where communication feels impacted, whatever that means for you. You know, sometimes it's not always about what you're saying or what's been said to you, but it could also be about exploring the shadows of communication, which is what is going unsaid in your life, what is going unset in your body and unsaid with the people that you know, and what is perhaps themes and your experiences with your loved ones or these significant figures that you know, what has gone unsaid for them that's affected you or impacted you, or in some of your more deep experiences that you've had with other people that you still think about what's unsaid there, either between you or them or everyone. What is unsaid? So take some time to journal to that, to think about that and see what comes up. Thank you again to my dear friend Darryl Daryl Gaines, Daryl Gaines, Daryl Gaines, no one like him guiding planet Astrology.
