Host Colonel Richard J. Mendelow (Ret) draws on a term from his Marine Corps days for this episode: commander's intent. Every mission statement has two parts — what you're supposed to do and why. That “why” is always part of the order, but Colonel Mendelow points to what it does for you when things don't go as planned — it's what guides you, especially when the plan falls apart.

In this episode, Colonel Mendelow and his wingman Christy Mendelow bring that same idea into daily life. A flat tire on the freeway. A coworker crying in the break room. Colonel Mendelow names God's commander's intent directly from Scripture — that He would be glorified, that we would love the Lord and love our neighbor as ourselves, and that none shall be lost. From there, the choice got simple: what is the loving thing to do here.

Colonel Mendelow tells a story from his own driveway that put this to the test — a costly mistake, a stressed-out contractor, and a decision that had nothing to do with what he was owed.
