Umatilla County Commissioner John Shafer discusses changes at the Columbia Development Authority. He then talks about the Umatilla County Board of Commissioners voting yesterday on the settlement of the CDA lawsuit, why the suit was filed and what the result of the settlement is. Next, Shafer shares what's next with economic development on the former Umatilla Chemical Weapons Depot. Shafer then talks about Umatilla County Emergency Dispatch letting its subscribers know of a pending rate hike well before their governments had to come up with a budget for the coming fiscal year. He explains how that happened. Shafer then talks about how the county's budget is coming and the concerns of the commissioners in Salem this session. Next, he talks about the costs of emergency dispatch services jumping more than $25,000 for the next fiscal year and whether the increase makes sense to him. Nelson gives an update on staffing, shares his concerns with the current session of the Oregon Legislature, then gives a status on the new police SUV and progress on the two pickup trucks PPD wants to lease that were cancelled. Finally, Nelson, who is also the coach for the Pendleton High School swim team, takes a minute to talk about the team, upcoming meets and the need for a pool that can be used year-around.
