Husband & wife reimagine W.E.B. DuBois’ Brownies’ magazine; Remembering the "Magnolia Room" sit-in

View descriptionShare

Dr. Karida Brown, a professor of sociology at Emory University and author, and her husband Charly Palmer, an artist and illustrator and Spelman College professor, discuss the inspiration behind their new book, which is an anthology, titled, “The New Brownies’ Book: A Love Letter to Black Families.”

Today marks a pivotal moment in Atlanta’s history. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Atlanta Student Movement participated in a protest to desegregate the Rich's Department Store in downtown Atlanta. We revisit Rose’s conversation with organizer Dr. Lonnie King, Jr. He reflects on his life and his ongoing fight for civil rights.
