Samson, a womanizer with an anger problem was used by God to rescue God's people at the end of his life and his restoration began with a simple yet powerful prayer, "Remember me and strengthen me."  God heard him.  God remembered him.  God strengthened him.  In the midst of Samson's life of consequences that were resulting from his lack of faithfulness God heard him and restored him.  You see my friends, nobody is beyond the reach of God's grasp and nobody is so far gone that God can't restore them!  The means you and me!

 While Randy's accomplishments on the water are impressive, his greatest passion is sharing his faith and serving others. He is a national spokesman for King's Home, a Birmingham-based ministry that provides refuge, hope, and support for abused youth, women, and children facing domestic violence, neglect, abandonment, homelessness, and other difficult circumstances.

 Together, Randy and Robin have helped raise more than $4.7 million for King's Home through their annual online boat giveaway. At the end of each Bassmaster season, Randy donates his tournament boat, and supporters can enter to win by making a $100 donation through King's Home.

 The Howells also lead RnR Outdoors, a ministry that connects with outdoorsmen across the country. Through church services, outdoor events, and speaking engagements, Randy shares his personal testimony, stories from the water, and the faith that has guided him throughout his life and career.

Our guest today has lived a pretty incredible life and has quite a story to tell. He's a retired lieutenant from Texas law enforcement, spent time working as a private contractor supporting law enforcement, and these days he's living the life of a full-time working cowboy. On top of that, he's a husband, a father, a professional speaker, and an author.

Born and raised in Texas, Sam eventually retired and made the move to Colorado, where he's enjoying ranch life while still making time for RV adventures, riding motorcycles, and hiking whenever he can.

We actually came across Sam on Instagram, where he shares these honest, encouraging, and uplifting reels that really caught our attention. He's also working on a new book called The Broken Fence, and we're looking forward to hearing more about that today.

In Today's show, I brought together John Weik of Northwest Spur Chasers, and Pastor Chris Taylor on Immanual Baptist Church in Glasglow, Kentucky to relive our incredible hunt for Merriam turkeys in Idaho and Washington. 

A few weeks ago, John invited myself and Chris to join him in Northern Idaho and Washington to hunt Merriam turkeys. This was our first time to the Northwest to hunt turkey's and the trip was incredible. I have been fortunate to hunt all across this country for many species, but as you know, turkey's are my passion. Joining John and Chris, and Tom Watson of Promise Peak podcast was arguably one of the best hunts I have ever taken. 

In short we bagged six birds in three days. But the hunt iteslf was amazing and incredible. We walked and walked, and called and called. Day one found us in Idaho, hearing birds gobbling at the top of a ridge. John led us on a trek that took hours to reach the top where the birds were. Winding around one corner and then the next for miles and miles. At every corner, we stopped, called and moved on. John kept saying, "they are just around the corner" we didn't know it would be 75 corners before we finally got to the birds. Chris and I doubled on the first group to show itself, and merely 100 yards later, we called in 3 more strutters and just sat and watched them for 15 minutes put on a show like I have never seen. The day ended with me taking my second Idaho bird. (All of this can be seen on John's YouTube channel - Northwest Spur Chasers) the next morning Chris got his second Idaho bird. Day three saw, us walking 13+ miles chasing birds.

In 2019, after a lot of prayer and research, founder and host, Pete Rogers launched Christian Outdoors Podcast with one drive and mission. "To talk about all things outdoors and how to enjoy God every day."

Through his 25 years as an outdoor writer, author, and speaker. Pete learned that any of the folks in the outdoor arena were Christians without a platform to express their faith. Cable television shied away from overt or subtle mentions of Christianity. Publications were clear, that no mention of God, much less Jesus was not allowed. This left a void for many who live for Christ but who also need to make a living with their product(s).

On October 1, 2019, the first episode was released with the commitment to release one episode a week for one full year and then re-evaluate. After that first year, the momentum was slow, but Pete felt that he needed to keep going.

The model is simple; Pete interviews stakeholders in the outdoor community and they discuss their passion for the outdoors, and we follow that with a discussion about their individual faith journey. On a regular basis, Pete will bring in two pastors who share his passion, tackle tough theological issues, and share their insight into what the Bible says about that particular subject.

Pete has a deep passion for the outdoors, spending more than 200 days a year in the outdoors, hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing wherever he can. But his passion for sharing the good news of Jesus is what drives him to continue to grow the podcast and reach as many people as he can through this medium.

We are just getting started, and with God's blessing, and the support of key partners, this ministry will continue to grow and reach folks with the good news of Jesus.
