The nurses union is escalating their strike action after it says negotiations have hit an impasse, and is now calling for the provincial government to intervene. In a statement to CFAX 1070, the health minister said she remains committed to seeing a fair deal for nurses, but made no commitment for the province to step in. This comes after the union said it is filing a labour board complaint over reports of employer intimidation, which the Health Employers Association of BC contested the characterization of, yet also said they were following up to address any complaints with the union. Ahead of new labour actions at Victoria General Hospital and other local sites, BCNU president Adriane Gear joins Mornings with Ryan & Lisa.
