The Sarah Beckett Memorial run in Langford is coming up this Sunday. This year marks a decade since the late constable died in the line of duty, after her police car was struck by a driver who had failed to stop for another officer.
She is often remembered for her love of her family, including her two sons Lucas and Emmitt, and husband – Brad Aschenbrenner– who is an organizer of the memorial run. He encourages everyone to come out on Sunday for the community Mother's Day celebrations happening as part of the event, even if they are unable to do the run itself.
This event is a way the community comes together in support of local charities including the Boys and Girls Club and Goldstream Food Bank and to recognize the life and legacy of Cst. Beckett. To date, the annual memorial run has raised more than $160,000 since it began in 2019.
