As Greater Victoria schools enjoy spring break, SD61 turns to the harder work of budget math. With flat per‑student provincial funding and shifting enrolment, the district is balancing next year’s books — and middle‑school jazz band and choir are part of the equation.

Josh discloses his connection to the story and speaks with parent Trevor Barry and Chris Leeson, president of the Greater Victoria Music Educators Association, about the real‑world impact of the proposal and the system constraints shaping those decisions.
