This week's show comes to you from the deck at Laughing Stock Vineyards in the middle of the Naramata Bench. Laughing Stock captured the Best Performing Small Winery of the Year in Canada at the 2025 Wine Align National Wine Awards and was recently acknowledged by Wine Growers British Columbia and the Okanagan Wine Festival Society as the 2026 Winery of the Year. Our guests include Sébastien Lafortune, Manager of Laughing Stock Vineyards, who walks us through the many guest-focused on-site tastings, including the Blending Seminar on August 28th. Sandy Leier, Winemaker at Laughing Stock Vineyards, joins us to focus on Laughing Stock’s white wines and sparkling program. We taste the 2024 Blind Trust White and the 2021 Market Bubble, a classic blend of 58% Pinot Noir and 42% Chardonnay, released after 36 months on its lees in bottle. In terms of red wines, we explore the 2023 Laughing Stock Vineyards Pinot Noir and the flagship Laughing Stock Vineyards Portfolio. Caroline Schaller, Winemaker at Culmina Family Estate Winery, drops by to update us on her work at the Culmina estate on the Golden Mile Bench and pours the Unicus 2025 (Grüner Veltliner) and her flagship red, the 2019 Hypothesis. Culmina Family Estate Winery is located on the Golden Mile Bench in Oliver, BC. Finally, winemaker Justin Hall joins the deck party from Nk’Mip Cellars in Osoyoos, pouring his 2022 QQ Syrah, 2025 Pinot Blanc, and the 2025 Rose. Nk'Mip (in-ka-meep) Cellars is a trailblazing winery in Osoyoos, BC, renowned as the first Indigenous-owned and operated winery in North America.
