The diabetes drug Ozempic is causing controversy as doctors are also prescribing it to patients who have no medical emergency, except wanting to lose weight. Meanwhile those struggling with real obesity issues, and patients trying to control their diabetes, are having to deal with shortages of the drug. Lester Kiewit speaks to Prof Joel Dave, head of the division of endocrinology at the University of Cape Town, and Dr Dr Charlene Wolberg, an MD specialising in nutritional sciences.
