Should we introduce a graduated driving licence for younger drivers in South Africa?

As part of Primedia Cares’ Corporates That Care initiative, Africa Melane (in for Lester Kiewit) speaks to Jacques Conradie, CEO of Peregrine Capital, about the 24SumMore Mathematics Competition, a national programme aimed at making maths more engaging for Grade 4 to 6 learners. They discuss how the competition challenges children to combine four numbers to reach 24, helping develop mental arithmetic, logical thinking, problem solving and confidence. Conradie explains why Peregrine Capital is investing in the initiative, which has grown from a 54 school pilot in Gauteng in 2025 to more than 300 schools across South Africa in 2026. They also look ahead to the national final on 29 October, where 36 learners will compete for the title, and how schools can register their interest for the 2027 competition.
