Lester Kiewit speaks to Stefanie de Saude-Darbandi, an immigration and citizenship law specialist and independent member of the Immigration Advisory Board. She sees a Home Affairs system that requires applicants to adhere to strict regulations, yet it does not afford the same strict regulations when it comes to delivering an efficient service, especially to foreign nationals. She sees a growing gap between what the law requires and what the system can deliver. And a government that expects everyone within its borders to comply with the law, has to remember that it too has to comply to laws and regulations.
