Fifteen years ago, at the inaugural season of IPL, eight franchises were bought for around $724 million. In 2023, five teams for season 1 of Women's Premier League ( WPL) were bought for a cumulative $572 million. It took 26 years for the US women's basketball team to fetch a $1 billion valuation.
