Women gather for the Multiply Sisterhood Network Empowerment Business Summit 2026

Last week Kenyan President William Ruto expressed his condolences following the death of Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, in a helicopter crash in Zimbabwe. The crash occurred on Wednesday, in the Marondera Rural area of Mashonaland East, east of Harare. President Ruto described Chivayo as his "dear friend" and said his death was a painful loss to the businessman's family, friends and those who knew him. Meanwhile, Kenya's former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made explosive allegations linking President William Ruto to late Zimbabwean businessman claiming they had business dealings. The increase comes on the back of a recent hike of interest rates by the country's Reserve bank. We also look at the southern African nation's trade data and producer inflation.
