The Forvis Mazars Global C-Suite Barometer 2025, an annual study of more than 800 executives worldwide, has shown an increase in optimism among business leaders. Several businesses surveyed have retained investment potential, and a number of countries continue to receive government support following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The study has also found that technology and innovation, as well as sustainability commitments, are among the key themes driving the growth trajectory.

Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it is preparing to make a decision on its fleet to expand its local network with an order for about 25 smaller commercial jets. The airline, which is currently assessing offers from Airbus, Embraer, and Boeing, would operate the aircraft on domestic routes as well as services to neighbouring countries.

The decision, set to take place against the backdrop of rising fuel costs from Middle East conflicts, is expected to shape the airline's positioning and strategic growth, while also intensifying competition among global aircraft manufacturers competing for a share of Africa's rapidly expanding aviation market.

South Africa's (SA) credit outlook has received a boost after Fitch Ratings upgraded the country's long-term foreign and local currency credit ratings from "BB-" to "BB."

SA's treasury says the upgrade signals improved investor confidence in SA's fiscal outlook and suggests that recent economic and policy developments are beginning to stabilise the country's credit profile. It also reflects a cautiously positive assessment of government efforts to strengthen public finances and support long-term growth prospects.
