Over the past few weeks, South Africans have had a series of water cuts as the country's utility company, Rand Water embarked on extensive infrastructure maintenance.

The Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) and the SA Local Government Association (Salga) have set up a Water Partnership Office (WPO) to facilitate private investment in water infrastructure projects.

Head of the WPO, Johann Lubbe says public water and sanitation projects often struggle to find bankable projects as they are seen as high risk.

Thami Ngubeni spoke to Johann Lubbe, Head of the Water Partnership Office (WPO).
