South Africa's hospitality industry is said to have hit its 2030 target for women in senior management four years early. But those in the industry say that it still has ground to make up at the top.
Women from designated groups now hold 47.3% of senior management roles, exceeding the 46.1% target, while top management sits at 36.2% against a 38.1% target.
As employers begin reporting against their employment equity plans from 1 September, attention will turn to whether the sector can translate its progress in senior management into greater representation at the top.
