Florida Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick faces federal charges for allegedly stealing $5 million in FEMA disaster funds through her family’s health-care company and funneling the money into her 2021 campaign. Prosecutors accuse her of money laundering, straw donor schemes, and tax fraud. If convicted, she could face up to 53 years in prison. She says the charges are because of the color of her skin.
