My partner and I have been talking about getting into making preserves. It seems like one of those things a lot of people still do, whether it's pickles, jam, salsa, or something else. I've never really tried it myself, but I'm curious if it's worth the time and effort. Do you make preserves, and if so, what's your specialty?

The Dream Factory's Super Strength for Super Kids fundraiser returns to Brandon on September 13 at Anytime Fitness. During a recent interview, event organizer Quentin Derhak explained that every lift helps support the organization's community space, giving children facing serious illnesses a place to relax, play, and simply be kids. This year's event is inspired by Dream Kids like Evie, who celebrated the end of her leukemia treatment at The Dream Factory surrounded by family and joy. Along with the lifting challenge, the day will feature family-friendly activities and a BBQ, with all proceeds helping create more magical moments for Manitoba families.

What if your pet could talk for one full minute… what would we actually hear? 😅 Around here, it’d be chaos. My dog would lock onto one word and never let go — “Ball? Ball. Ball!” on a loop. My senior cat would somehow squeeze in a full 17-minute prepared statement (complete with grievances, I’m sure) into that one minute. And the kitten? Pure energy: “BIRDS. I WANNA SEE THE BIRDS. LET ME AT ‘EM RIGHT NOW.” So now I’m curious… if your pet had 60 seconds with a mic, what are they saying?

Australia’s Northern Territory is dealing with massive flooding, and police are warning people not to even think about going near the water. And listen, here in Manitoba we’re no strangers to flooding, and I don’t want to take away from that… but CROCODILES EVERYWHERE???? Authorities are literally saying there are crocs in the floodwaters just cruising around like it’s their personal splash park. They’ve moved more than 1,000 people to shelter and are telling folks not to be heroes. Also… they warned about “other things” in the water, and I’m sorry, WHAT OTHER THINGS??

Turns out I have more superstitions than I realized, and Friday the 13th is the perfect day to discover them. Apparently I must put my left shoe on first, and if I spill salt, I’m tossing it like it’s instinct. Listen to the break and let me know what weird little rituals you’ve accidentally picked up.
