On Boerne Radio’s Townhall Program, host Baron Wiley interviews Kendall County Commissioner Precinct 2 candidate Andra Wisian as she runs for re-election. 

Andra Wisian discusses the most rewarding parts of the job, including constituent problem-solving, and recounts her role communicating during last year’s flooding by coordinating with county officials and advocating for flood warning system funding. She outlines public safety actions during her tenure: increased support for the City of Boerne’s paid fire department, continued funding for volunteer fire departments, helping Boerne/Comfort move to 24/7 coverage, opening a new EMS station and sheriff’s substation near Boerne/Comfort, adding EMS personnel, and maintaining strong sheriff’s office funding.

She explains adopting the 2024 International Fire Code to strengthen countywide battery energy storage system safety standards and notes East Point Energy withdrew its Flat Rock Creek project after the county set safety expectations. On fiscal responsibility, she describes a conservative approach, reducing the county budget by about $2.7 million while funding core services, explaining maintenance/operations versus voter-approved debt service, and noting a slight tax rate reduction. 

Andra Wisian addresses mobility and growth, Kendall County’s participation in the Alamo Area MPO, work with TxDOT on projects including the SH 46/Herff-Esser intersection upgrade and FM 3351 expansion to four lanes over time, opposition to greenfield loop roads, and specific safety fixes such as a no U-turn sign near Truss and Worth.

She also discusses water scarcity, the fragility of the Trinity Aquifer, lack of new water sources, the need for conservation and reuse, fixing leaky infrastructure, support for 10-acre minimum well spacing, drilling monitoring wells using ARPA funds, and land conservation tied to voter-approved Proposition A, including acquisition of the 310-acre Guadalupe River Ranch park with river access to other county parks.

Mian shares personal details about riding and training horses for parades and asks voters to support her platform of safeguarding taxpayer dollars, backing first responders, managing growth, protecting natural resources, and improving roads under the slogan “Steady Leadership Staying the Course.”
