Boerne Radio host Baron Wiley interviews Rich Sena, a 12-year Bernie ISD trustee running again for Place 7, who highlights district achievements, community support, and financial stewardship. Sena says the board has saved taxpayers $27 million in interest since 2023 and $85 million since 2016 while maintaining one of the lowest regional school tax rates, and notes BISD spends about $3,000 less per student than the Texas average. He discusses P-TECH early college programs in cybersecurity and health careers, expanded career and technical pathways, JROTC, character development efforts, and BISD’s A rating, 99%+ graduation rate, and Boerne Academy options. Sena also addresses recapture (“Robinhood”), property tax relief advocacy, teacher pay and retention allotments, growth planning, land banking, and preserving local traditions. He asks for votes during early voting starting April 20 and Election Day May 2nd.
